Damn, I want that tin! But why is it $70? Is it because the movies are already in there? Because I've already ordered mine on the cheep from some other place.

$70 actually wouldn't be a bad price (yes, the DVDs are included). Since the DVDs are selling for about $20 each, that would only be $10 for the tin (although I still think the tin should be free if you buy all 3 movies).

This is EXACTLY why I'm buying the DVDs. Lucas is an unpredictible asshat. Who the hell knows what he may ever do. I HOPE he has the sense to restore and release the originals, but if not I HAVE to buy this. He has proven he can't be trusted.

Somebody is buying these versions guys, I think everyone needs to reconsider and buy them and try like hell to equal or come close to the '04 set, and then Lucas may 'understand' that we actually like these versions better.

I mean, we are buying inferior transfers to the '04 set, and it looks like they are going to sell like hotcakes, what is a better way of hitting Lucas over the head?

And lest not forget about returing the SEs by mail with a respectful message. I'm not buying this release but if anyone is on board with the sendback campaign, every disc counts. Here's what it comes down to now: what is stronger, Lucas's ego or his desire to make money? He know there is a market. He knows that fans want a restoration (so much, in fact, that LFL actually answered fans). Lucas could say that's that and now that everyone who wanted the OOT has it, but since he can't seem to sell the SEs any other way anymore, he seems to be in a bit of a conundrum. Cross your fingers and pray (God seems to be the only one with power over Lucas).

Exactly why I still think it would be a GREAT idea for those who buy to write Lucas and tell him exactly why they bought it: for the OUT and the OUT alone!

There is simply no denying this now. They sold all 3 of the SEs for two years in a row for much less than these 3 movies cost together and they still didn't come close! And not to sound like a broken record here, but this is exactly why I believe we will see the OUT again; I cna hear it now: "Due to the overwhelming response of the sale of the OUT, we have decided to revist the OUT and give it a proper transfer...". Who knows how long that will take, but I think it will be in MUCH less time than first suspected. The reason why I say that is because I have a few DVDs that are non-anamorphic. Suddenly the movie caught on for whatever reason and/or the studio found a new way to hype the movie, so within no time the studio released updated anamorphic versions with loads of extras, different packaging, etc...they wouldn't have done that if they didn't sell well the first time around...

The thing to remember is not everyone knows about this spectacular site, few own laserdisc players much less the THX disc versions. And for many people to find a good fan dvd set without paying a ridiculous amount would be too hard. There's probably a lot of new fans who don't own the originals on vhs. Besides this release should clearly be better than the tapes, most of which are pan/scan. So for many people not familiar with this site, the new dvd's are a must have.

Now its starting to slide down Amazon's sales rank. The cash cow is drying up again. Of course, Lucas could say that the OOT sales were not up to par with the SEs, but I don't think that he can say that there is not market for it anymore. I guess that the winds of change are starting to blow.
