why do people like boba fett? — Page 2

Anakin beat the crap out of Greedo...

And... The OT clearly established he was a "good man" before his fall.

And Boba Fett? He flipping tried to kill Obiwan using the Slave I's turbo lasers. What did you expect? Boba to start stabbing random civilians at ten?

If you read some of the EU stuff with Boba Fett, you'll understand why he's so cool. Really... He's just so cool.

Seeing them as a kid just isn't something I need to see. I'd rather just have the mystery and imagine all the horrible things that took him down the bounty hunter path.

Jango died before he could really train Boba and Boba didn't get the military hardwiring that the clone troopers did, so he's basically just a kid playing bounty hunter. Pussy. Also, does anyone remember before epiosode 3 Rick McCallum said we would find out why Boba Fett hates the skywalkers so bad and is intent on hunting them (not that I ever had that notion, but Rick seems to think we should). Well, did anyone get anything from Episode 3 to explain this? I didn't.

boba stats clearly in one of the EU books that his fight was with the jedi not the skywalkers, so i think you heard wrong.

Yes, but "it will cost you a little extra".

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Aw, thanks. I also received the latest Aalaya Secura figure to fight with Asajj. But the blue twilek girl won't stand up ...her joints are too loose to support the figure. So I have her posed DEAD at Asajj's feet. Grrr ... they just don't make Star Wars figures like they used to (but on the other hand, there were NO female action figures aside from Leia released from the original trilogy -- not counting the Droids cartoon and maybe Sy Snootles).

Anyway, Lucas stripped Boba Fett of any intrigue by depicting him as a completely uninteresting bratty kid. The backstory and further adventures of Boba Fett as seen in the expanded universe in the mid-90's were a lot more interesting ... and I'm not a big fan of the expanded stuff.

I think Boba Fett's popularity is because he's mysterious. He sort of Like Clint Eastwood's character in the man with no name trilogy, or like yojimbo a ronin.

Simply put, Fett is one of the only characters with the balls to talk straight with Vader and not cower. The guy had only four lines in the OT, all of them in Empire. Two of these lines were basically back-talking to Vader.

"He's no good to me dead."
"What if he dies? He's worth a lot to me."

These are in essence the same friggin line, but the point is, he's willing to say what he thinks to the most ruthless badass in the galaxy -- straigh to his face (er, mask). That make him a serious badass in his own rite.

Tarkin was this way too, and it made him almost as cool. Barking orders at Vader. But clearly they had a 20-year relationship in place.

Motti and Ozzel were less fortunate.

No, McCallum said the skywalkers. I remeber I found it strange because I didn't even realise Boba had a problem with the skywalkers in the first place. Also, McCallum said that Episode 3 would shed light on the subject - we already saw in episode 2 why Boba dislikes the Jedi in general.
