I was wondring if we did get the OOT in let say HD dvd format and we are happy with it will it be the end of star wars? . Dont you think its time Star wars should have a rest ? Let the new genration take over e.g Harry potter LOTR ,matrix ??
The end? No, at least not for me. Even right now, SW isn't really dead to me. If Lucas were to release the OOT completely remastered it might renew my faith in the man, but that's about it. I continue to enjoy the originals to this day. I just don't watch the SEs or the PT.
It won't matter if SW is ever released on a hi-def disc or completely remastered. It'll live as long as we want it to. As long as someone continues to enjoy going to that galaxy far far away, it'll always be alive.

There is no way, within the next couple generations, that I think the love of SW will die. Just too many fans and people with great memories of it. Now maybe a 100 years or so from now, then people will just look back at has an era thing and it will be apart of history.
"Among many things I have to be thankful for are you, the fans. I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. But take that passion and devotion and channel it into a creative project of your own." -George Lucas
Star Wars will have a following years from now. It might be smaller, but still alive. Look at things like movies, comics, etc, of the 30's and 40's, There are boards/groups around the internet still devoted to them, even if some of these things haven't had anything 'new' in decades.

For me, it would end. The PT pretty much told me that Lucas lost it completely. He doesn't have what it takes anymore to be a good storyteller....and I'm not interested in stories from the SW universe being told by others. Sure, they might be good, but I'm just not interested. When that happens, SW becomes like Star Trek......and I've had enough of that shit. I'd rather have something new to move on to instead of lingering on something being done to death.
I like it best when there is a great story (LOTR or SW) told by just one person (Tolkein and Lucas (to a certain degree at least)). I'm not interested in other people telling stories within that one great story. Some of them might be good and some might be bad, but I'd just rather leave the one great story alone and move on to the next great story.
It depends on what you're asking. If you're asking if I'll ever simply "end" my fandom, then no, never. My interest will always wax and wane, but I will always come back to it periodically like I always have. And I don't plan to leave these boards anytime soon. But if you mean end like stop having new SW material, then I'm all for that! It's gone on for far too long and just needs to be put to rest with what little dignity it has left or, as Cable says, it will become like Trek, with all kinds of barely related spinoffs that have nothing to do with the original story.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
