Well, my Christmas consisted of odd little novelties:

- 6 packs of "Angry Scotsman Chewing Gum"

-William Shakespeare Action Figure

-A pack of self-adhesive mustaches

-A Cat-a-pult (see Archie McPhee's website)

-Darth Tater

-Monty Python and the Holy Grail Tim the Enchanter hat

But then I also got some DVD's:

-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (ehh...)

-Batman Begins (the single-disc version, sadly)

-The Best of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog (hysterical!)

And the creme-de-la-creme:

The Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD Box Set (I'm a VERY happy man)

Plus I got the Deluxe King Kong DVD (the one that comes in the tin and comes with "Son of Kong" and "Mighty Joe Young") for my birthday.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys: I turned 17 on December 24th!!!!

Apparently not a single one. Predates too many of our junior members I guess. But no more so than ROTJ which came out the same year. *sigh*

And, let me guess, like most school districts, they won't foot the bill for all her copying, will they? Not surprised at all.

You mean, teachers pay for the copy themselves?
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Teachers, being one of the most underappreciated professions in this country, have often been reduced to having to pay for many of the basic tools that a professional needs to do their jobs. Its my understanding that this comes from a combination of many budget factors but no matter how its looked at its totally ridiculous. Its bad enough that teachers are expected to be surrogate parents and that they are supposed to take crap off of every student and now be allowed to say anything or do anything in return but then to expect them to have to buy their own supplies... another symptom of our whacked-out society.

Unless they are part of a really rich and generous school district, yes.

Nope, but my wife was a special ed teacher's aide for a year and my mother in law is a long-time first grade teacher so I hear all the stories.

And all your comments point to why teachers have it so good in Canada, yet they still insist on striking. What's up with that?

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Maybe the better one has it the more time one has to think about things like going on strike rather than just having to do one's job? I dunno.

Back on topic- Santa brought me an Atari Flashback!! Whoo-hoo!!!

Tell that to the metro workers when they were on strike in NYC this month.
