The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 421

Honestly, the day-to-night changes for Ahch-To is one of the more impressive changes so far in this edit to me. I’ve never seen just a really impressive day-to-night regrade that didn’t feel like they just threw a blue filter over it, but this feels really authentic.

Just for resource-sake, is there an unedited version of this scene with this regrade applied?

Could we modify the line to say:
“I destroyed Ben’s ship.”

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

Eh, he’s got extras. Probably a whole hangar full of 'em.
But it is weird that the Wayfinder would be on a second resort one rather than the first one. Unless he just retrieved it from the smashed first one. Did it go through two fiery destructions of TIEs? Sith engineering is robust.

The way I see it is just like any other name. Are people called by their last names sometimes? Yes, but not as often as their first. So personally I don’t see the issue at all.

Also it’s called the Knights of Ren because… he is Ren. Here is the original guy he took the name from:

He didn’t have any reason to bring the wayfinder with him to Pasaana. His goal was to test Rey’s powers to their limit at that point. He probably disconnected it and stashed it somewhere. But when he went to Endor he was planning on taking Rey with him to Exegol, thus why he would bring it along in his TIE.

Honestly it’s not that big of a deal though.

Did he have any more reason to take the Wayfinder to the DSII, though?

EDIT: You’re right, it’s not a big deal and certainly not relevant to Ascendant so let’s avoid cluttering this thread further.

It just seems weird that all other supreme leaders including Kylo had prototype ships until this one bounces back. It just feels like another huge continuety error than anything else. Just to get the trailer shot.

I feel like he does. I made that distinction in my previous post. He first wanted to push Rey to her limits so that she would tap into her “unlimited powah”. Then he would later try to convince her to come to Exegol with him. Would be risky to bring the wayfinder with him for the first part. I know I wouldn’t if I were him.

And MR, that is somewhat true. Although I’d imagine that if the ship was considered a prototype in TLJ that they would have made at least one more since then in the year gap between films.

Well, the TIE Silencer from TLJ is not the same model as the TIE Whisper in TROS, so one could pretend Kylo asked for a newer set of prototype fighters once he became Supreme Leader (and ship progression in-between Star Wars movies is nothing new, so…)

To be fair, the whole thing is an error, regardless of rationalizing it … but, can be overlooked since there isn’t much one can do.

Although it was a visually interesting thing with the TIE vs Rey, it would have been better if it wasn’t that to avoid the plot hole on JJ’s part. So many overlooked things in this movie. Oye.

Yeah either way we’ve already made it much more believable by removing the TIE completely exploding. Flames don’t seem to affect the wayfinder, but I doubt it could withstand an explosion.

I still remember watching the movie opening night and having people gasp at that moment because they thought that Kylo literally just freaking died. Lmao.

Yeah … the whole thing was … bad when you think about it. Another “fake out death” and later a most-likely-plot hole.

If JJ still wanted/must have some kind of Jedi vs. Vehicle confrontation like it between those two, heck having Kylo on a speeder trying to run her down would have been better. Heck, it could have been a bit of a call back to ROTJ with Luke and the Speeder bikes. Lol.

I do wonder what the thought process was, or if the TIE originally wasn’t meant to be destroyed or pop up throughout the rest of the movie. It’s not impossible for him to just have multiple ships or whatever, but it is weird for the movie to present what could be read as a plot hole like that. Just kind of weird.

Hey one thing I thought of, which may or may not be necessary/be too much work … but would it help if a creative VFX to add a paint scheme or something to one of the TIES to at least make them visually different if a person pays attention?

It kind of makes me think on one of those ROTJ threads to add stripes to Palp’s shuttle to make it different.

It doesn’t have to be drastic, but maybe even something to really “help” separate the TIES.

Heck, if there is time or a scene with some audio magic to have Kylo say “Fuel my other ship” or something when they identify the beads? That isn’t necessary, but even something to help the audience have a visually/audible confirmation those ships were clearly different and not a “whoops, plot hole.”

I bet it was clarified at one point, but for some reason it was believed that the finale of the Skywalker saga didn’t need to be longer than the rest of the movies. So they started ripping out “unneeded” scenes and clarifications.

IMO this movie needed to be 3 hours long in order to work right. Reminds me of the whole Justice League situation. I hope one day we get a longer cut just like with that movie.

Could some audio work be done with Kylo responding to the FO officer identifying the necklace with something like "prepare a Tie/Whisper/Ship? something to help the audience see that the TIE he was in had the Wayfinder in it?

Also looking at the design, what if some of the red paint is replaced with another color, or partially replaced, with gold or something for his “supreme leader” status or something. Color doesn’t matter, but if it is a different color between the two we see … it would be better?

If something can be done to maybe make a distinction would help fill up that hole.

Oh, boy, what an idea. lol, this is the level we have reached circling this movie over and over.

Makes perfect sense to say, “Prepare my ship.” Kylo does this in TLJ as well, and perhaps more times that I can’t recall. It’d probably be doable to change the line to “prepare a ship,” but it might sound too weird to be worth it.

Man, I’m sensing a common theme here. Justice League was written in part by Chris Terrio and it was a big pile of doo-doo. But enough people asked for an extended/redone version and now (mostly) everyone likes the version to be released tomorrow.

I just hope that TROS, which was written in part by Chris Terrio, gets the same treatment. If it does happen, it would probably be released in 2024, so this project needs to be enough to tide us over until then. I think we’ve definitely accomplished that and some more, given what we have.

“Prepare one of my many ships!”

“Prepare My No. 2!”

(Officers giggle)

JEDIT: If I had the skill, it would be neat to change part of the color scheme on the TIE to make it different if it sounds weird to change/alter his line. Just something to soothe the audience mind. Even if its like Red & Black.

lol

And I am not holding my breath for any more material to work with here. If we ever do get any, great, but I am doubtful.

EDIT: Maybe add a bumper sticker?

In all seriousness, if anyone does want to visually augment the Pasaana TIE in a way that isn’t detrimental, be my guest. I don’t ask for it but I’d be open to including it.

Bumperstick: #hatesand#granddad

EDIT: For coloring idea, if it is easy, what about darkening the foils, on the inside, like a dark grey or something that matches the rest of the TIE? Or even red? Looking at the “Rey does a flip” is the best view of the TIE and would be the best “visual” look at the TIE and can differentiate it from the other.
