Will you be crediting yourself and others this time around?

You mean in the end credits? No, because I hadn’t for 7 or 8, for consistency’s sake. But absolutely yes in the documentation.

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

Okay, although I still find it a bit odd you didn’t add credits like you did with the Prequels, as a lot of hard work and VFX were put into your Sequel edits, more so than for the Prequels.

The real reason is because I just didn’t think the sequels were going to be as big of a deal. But since I’m not planning to release anymore for 7 or 8 I don’t want to do it for 9 for consistency’s sake. If I woke up in 2016 and had it all to do again, sure!

But yeah, I know…

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

Whoo, the dreaded commentary track has been recorded. lol

There was so much in this edit to comment on, and I know so many moments went by without mention. My thoughts weren’t always coherent and I didn’t have as much to say about the movie and story itself as with past installments.

Thank you all so much for coming out of nowhere to produce a jawdropping fan edit. This was the fan edit that almost wasn’t, making it all the more impressive to have done so much with it. It’s been a privilege to compile and execute. I wish I could gather us together with a rented theater and a round of PTO for everyone to spend nine days watching the whole saga.

You guys are incredible. Thank you for everything. It’s meant more to me than you might think.

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

Funny enough, I’m listening to your past commentaries while you’ve recorded this one.

Thank you Hal! It’s been a blast reading through these threads for the past almost decade and seeing the amazing results! I can’t wait to one day have all of these edits burned on to discs and placed on my shelf!

Always glad to offer as many ideas as I can! Cannot wait for V1 to be released. I have been showing the fiancé all the new changes and additions, and as soon as V1 is released we are having a saga watch party.

1-3 - Hal
Solo - The Bold One (fingers-crossed for an eventual Hal edit here)
RO - Hal
4-5 - Adywan
6-7 - Hal
8 - Poppasketti
9 - Hal

The Skywalker Saga Viewing Order:
I: C.O.D. | II: T.A.S. | III: L.O.E. AE
IV: Revisited | V: Revisited | VI: Revisited
VII: Restructured | VIII: Rekindled | IX: Ascendant

This is the way.

Sounds like a good lineup! 😉

And as far as I’m concerned, The Coaxium Heist with the original opening reinstated rather than a crawl is what I’d like best.

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

Where can I find details about that one? I haven’t seen many Solo edits floating around

Movies Remastered set up a nice watch party for his edit. I’d be interested in something similar for Ascendant if Hal was up for it.

Fun as that sounds, it’d be very difficult for me to put together 3 hours of contiguous time for it. That’s all right, but I agree it’d be fun!

Excited to add this to my collection!

Nice to hear that your commentary track is done, The circle is now complete 😉.
Thanks Hal looking forward to listening to it in your final version.

Burbin has completed the English and Spanish language subtitles, with French to come soon.

So, I believe that only leaves DTS audio (incoming from ChainsawAsh) and cover artwork (forthcoming from Movies Remastered). Then I can release V1!

Well done. I will disengage self-destruct initiative.

DTS audio should be done tomorrow, barring any unforeseen issues with the new stems - and assuming I don’t keep forgetting to do it.

Sounds like we’ll be getting final version not long after we get the first episode new season of Mando, good times 😁👍

Wow. What an incredible amount of work put into this. I almost thought this edit wasn’t going to happen. The changes I’ve seen so far help save what I considered a patchwork mess of a film. Does that awful kiss still happen at the end?

Maybe a stupid question, but what is DTS audio?

It’s a different audio codec, that’s all. AC3 (aka Dolby Digital) is owned by Dolby, and DTS is owned by…well, DTS.

Standard AC3 tracks max out at 640kbps, while standard DTS tracks can go up to approximately 1500kbps.

It’s a way of delivering higher-quality lossy audio while still saving on file size compared to lossless codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Although I do standard DTS encoding because I simply don’t have the DTS-HD MA encoder suite; if I had that, I’d be making lossless encodes for Hal rather than the 1500kbps DTS encodes.
