(this is especially funny since Davnes has a lady in his avatar, but no one ever thinks he is a girl, which he in fact is not)

Sorry Ric.  I fixed my original post.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Falling in love is a no-no, but cheap one night stands with hot alien chicks is okay? Wow!

I think you're confusing us with Star Trek?

Not at all. ;)

Where were you in '77?

Granted, given what George Lucas's love life has been, I cannot at all blame him for seeing romantic attachment as dangerous and terrible.  In fact, I rather agree with him on that point...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Is this a recent occurrence, Gaff, or some kind of fresh incident? No need to go into detail if you'd rather not, just curious.

I disagree with the idea that romantic attachment is dangerous, even though my luck with women has been the platonic ideal of horrible.

I'll say this, my spouse of 9 years as been a blessing for me. She actually contributed a lot to settling me down from my wild ways. Bringing our baby girl into this world pretty much sealed the deal on making me wiser and act in a more mature fashion with regards to daily life. I live less recklessly, seek out battles less often, and only challenge authority when absolutely necessary. I find that I think diplomatically more and of using force a lot less. I would imagine that in real life, having love would be a benefit to a Jedi. It would serve to make him wiser quicker, I think. Although I understand the dangers this could cause, I think the rewards would be far greater.

Haha, I was under the impression that "recent occurrence" and "fresh incident" were more or less the same thing.  Suffice it to say that, due to my own experiences as well as everyone else I've encountered in the past year is that human beings only get into relationships in order to cause as much devastating pain to one another as humanly possible.  If one can devote nearly a decade to a single person only to have that person lie, cheat, and run off without any warning... well, I just don't see it as being anything other but a waste of time.  Other human beings aren't to be trusted, plain and simple, and we all know that George Lucas knows that as well as anybody.

Oops, that should read, "distant occurrence" and "fresh incident". You know what I meant, fortunately.

Being married reduces testosterone in men, so the male jedi would probably become more jedi-ish if they got married.

I think that's about it. Emotional attachment is an evil, you know. We got that message loud and clear in ROTS, when Annie went evil and killed kids all because he was in love with Padme and thus wanted to save her. Attachment leads to the dark side. Love is evil and makes you kill kiddies.

Wtf has happened to Star Wars?

That's actually the SOLE thing I liked about the "prequels", because it shows the Jedi's fear and arrogance and how it ultimately leads to it's downfall. and in turn, It makes Luke's Journey in the UDT (where he forsakes those old teachings to save his father and gets re-united with his real family) all the much more uplifting.

I read a little book entitled: The Rise and Fall of Pretty Much Everybody.

It detailed the sorry personal lives of so many of the people who survived history.  The conclusion I came to was pretty much: You can be a successful family man ~or~ You can do things History will remember you for.  But not both.
