You have to be kidding me!  That was a joke and I really had no idea.

Good night.  It's gotten so I can't joke about Hollywood being stupid because even the dumbest idea I put out there they will make into a movie.  I mean what real life events are my going to cheaply exploit next.  This is a part of Sci-Fi I have never liked, the way real life events will be blamed on aliens, time travelers,or mutants it just feels cheap to me and it never really works.  Just because you have those things in your story doesn't mean they are responsible for everything that ever happened in the universe.  Some events will just be average people doing stuff to try and make the world a better place or because they are just crazy.  I mean is there now one important event in the last 70 years that the Xmen were not part of?  What are the odds of these people getting involved in so many important events. I'm sorry but this just doesn't work for me on any level.  If it works for you more power to you,but it just doesn't for me.

Using the Kennedy assassination as a plot point is nothing new. Quantum Leap, the 80's incarnation of The Twilight Zone, the Clint Eastwood film In The Line of Fire.

Gene Roddenberry once outlined a potential Trek film storyline reminiscent of City on the Edge of Forever, involving Kennedy. I kid you not.

Yeah that is one reason I think it just feels so cheap here.  It feels like a really dated and overused sci-fi story telling device that makes me wonder if in the next movie the Xmen will go into space and end up on the planet of green amazon woman who all want to sleep with them.

It just feels cheap and silly to me is all.

Seems rad to me. And First Class is the best X-Men film.

It's been done too many times for my taste.

Plus the only version of this story I ever cared for was the Red Dwarf version, why try to top perfection?

SPOILERS FOR WINTER SOLDIER AND AGENTS OF SHIELD FROM 4-22:

So, the AoS and Winter Soldier timeline. It's currently only a couple days since Project Insight in AoS. How long after Insight does the ending of WS take place? We've got Black Widow at a Senate hearing, Gary Shandling getting arrested, Agent 13 working at the CIA, Hill working at Stark, Fury leaving to wander the earth, and Cap and Falcon going after Hydra. I'm assuming none of this has happened from AoS' point of view yet. However, I'm betting when May catches up with Hill, she will be working at Stark.

Yeah it has all turned into a big fart storm for anyone working for Shield.  I am wondering what effect this will all have not just on our heroes in AOS but how this will play out in Avengers 2.  I mean with Shield out of the picture what will bring the Avengers together next time?

And, BTW, I still can't believe that Ming-Na Wen is 50 now. I mean, you know, WOW!

Spiderman has nothing to do with the MCU.

I am aware of this.  But thanks, I think.

Joe Quesada, Marvel's chief creative officer recently did a podcast and discussed the four new Netflix series that are in development. Here are some choice quotes:

“There will be some interconnectivity, much like the movies. They will exist within the cinematic universe again, so this is all the same world as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.”

“Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level…this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven’t really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies, and probably more ground level, than I think you’ve seen. This is not like us doing Batman, Dark Knight or any of that stuff. This is very Marvel doing street level superheroes.”

“The scripts are coming in. They are pretty fantastic. They’re really emotional. They’re very, very original. But at the same time, it is Daredevil. It is Matt Murdock. We will eventually, hopefully start casting really, really soon, but I’m very, very excited about it.”

I'd be really interested in the Daredevil show being a lawyer show with light heroism.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. SPOILERS AHEAD

Really dug last night's episode. Didn't see the revelations about T.A.H.I.T.I. coming at all but it makes sense given his past work we've seen in the films.

Also cool but strange to see Lola back in the mix. My brain just automatically says BTTFII when I see flying cars. It seems like an odd thing that doesn't quite fit the universe but even in the Winter Soldier Fury's Suburban was referenced as having that capability, it was just disabled.

Pretty disappointed in Skye though.

It was even featured in the first Captain America.

BTW, two lines in AoS made me freak out:

Episode 8 "The Well"

"Did I fall asleep?"
"For a little while."

I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As a person who grew up with few comic books (not sure why, just never branched out that way) the MCU has really turned me into a fan and made me wonder what all I've been missing in the comics world, so much so that I'm contemplating getting into some collecting, or at least reading.

As a guy who always goes for the armoured normal guy among superbeings, Iron Man is most definitely my favourite hero on the roster, but thanks to the other films and Marvel Heroes (which is honestly one of the best games of all time run by a company that really does give a shit about the game and its playerbase), my interests are expanding somewhat.

I'd really like to sit down some day and run a marathon of all the Marvel films to date sometime, and with the glowing reviews that the Agents of SHIELD show is getting, I'm really interested in starting that as well.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

END OF LINE

I watched the most recent AoS episode over the weekend. Once again, it continues to get/remain awesome.

[SPOILERS]

The reveal of who was behind TAHITI was mind-blowing, makes you dislike Fury though for going against the recommendation to shut it down.

Hydra has The Bus. This is perhaps the most upsetting thing to me of the episode. I love that giant-ass plane.

I just watched the third Iron Man film and the second Thor film.

Both were great fun. I can't see what the fuss about the Mandarin was about.

It was funny seeing Chris Ecclescake smashing up Christopher Wren's work...naughty boy.

I didn't like the third Iron Man (or better, I like it the least of all the MCU movies). Mostly because of the remote controlled armorpalooza, and the overall artificial (CGI) look of the movie. I wonder what it would have looked like if Favreau had directed it.

Thor was the movie I was the least interested in. And it turned out to be my favorite movie in the MCU.

Author

Perhaps I'm not as attached to the comics as the hardcore fans so I just see the remote control aspect as a logical extension of the technology of the suit coupled with the modern world as distinct from the futurism of the early 1960's.

The characters are played with such gusto that the CGI, which is largely invisible to me if a bit wonky in places, only becomes a major issue during the ubiquitous boss fight scenes. These appear in practically every superhero film deflating all character development and turning the films into the rarely fun experience of watching someone else complete a computer game.Thor 2 had a riverside romantic scene in a futuristic decorative city with Nat Portman, a functioning male actor and a script that didn't suck (see it can be done).

Nick Fury has had a flying car since 1967.  The wheels have turned in almost that whole time as well.

I'm relatively sure that the BTTF (1) gag was a comic reference to Nick Fury, not the other way around.

But hey, lots of people thought Fantastic Four (2005) was an Incredibles (2 months earlier in 2005) ripoff, so what do I know?

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!
