Future seasons? This is already confirmed to be a one-season thing.

I believe that’s what he meant - they won’t soften anything for future seasons since there won’t be any.

Exactly.

Now obviously we won’t see the death of any characters that we have seen die in other movies/series, but seeing as there will be only one season of this I’m hoping that this means we’ll get something a bit like Rogue One where we’ll actually see some meaningful deaths.

I suppose we could get some crossover with Andor though, seeing as they’re set in roughly the same time. I think it’s a given that we’ll see some rebels in this series, though at this point in canon there’s not much of an organized alliance yet. Maybe we’ll see Obi-Wan help spark the rebellion alongside Bail, similar to what we saw in Rebels only with a separate rebel cell before they all came together.

My only real complaint about the trailer, not counting some nitpicks with the colour grading (I’ve gotten used to that) and such, is the look of the Grand Inquisitor. It’s not a huge deal, but it is somewhat jarring.

Hello there,

Here’s a little something for the fans out there.

The link to the Kenobi picture that’s on the Entertainment weekly cover. It’s too large a picture for the forum. It’s not the actual picture, I cleaned it up and removed the font from the cover.

I thought it was a fine trailer. This is not a show for space battles or even big battles. There will be some action, but it’s mostly about Obi-Wan being sad and wanting to protect Ani’s kids while the Empire is hunting for Jedi. That seems good to me.

Are we taking bets on whether we’ll see that awful helicopter nonsense with the spinning (that’s a good trick!) saber?

I hope so, because it’ll make me laugh. A lot.

My stance on helicopter lightsabers is pretty much that I know they’re silly, but I don’t care, I just find it hilarious that so many people hate them with a passion.

Wasn’t that impressed. Hopefully if the show isn’t great, it’s at least salvable with fanedits. That has become the new standard for most Disney Star Wars content for me.

That’s my attitude with anything produced after 1980 in this franchise.

This. Unfortunately.

I’m… cautiously optimistic about this show. I think the cynical pessimistic reaction this site has been having is really overblown, but at the same time I hate the braindead consumer attitude every other SW community has taken recently. If your reaction to this trailer was “OMG DUEL OF THE FATES I’M GONNA CUM!!!”, then I understand why JJ Abrams thought the fanbase would like Rise of Skywalker.

My one strong reaction to the show so far, and one that a lot of fans seem to share, is being really weirded out by the live-action Inquisitor designs. Seriously, if you told me the live-action Grand Inquisitor was a completely new character, I would believe you. Would it really kill them to make his head just a few inches taller using prosthetics? And don’t get me started on the Fifth Brother, who’s turned from a unique-looking and threatening alien character to some random dude in green face-paint. But the braindead consumers are even finding ways to rationalize that, calling people “whiny haters” for wanting a Star Wars show that doesn’t look like some rejected Star Trek spinoff.

Anyways, I’m gonna withhold further judgement until we actually get to see the show. As Public Enemy said, “Don’t believe the hype.”

It’s a given that there will be plenty to genuinely enjoy about the show that will make it a net positive for having existed. I just hope that by the end of it there feels like a… message?

“It seems the show is carrying a message from an Obi-Wan Kenobi. Does that series mean anything to you?”

My stance on revising fan edits.

I however feels a bit off that the show might not bridge ROTS to ANH but shall bridge… The bad batch perhaps to Rebels. Audiences not watching animated production might get lost I guess. Let’s see if bringing a new inquisitor (and checking all the woke boxes, since USA and western world are now consumed by it) not seen in Rebels would add any interesting stuff. I suspect a redemption sub narrative, showing Ben that it’s possible for someone using the dark side to go back to the light.

Another thing I wonder : what else is this series gonna stage? Since all SW shows have been adding side elements to sell the next show…

So long 🙌

deep sigh

Please don’t start this. A black female character is not “forced” or “woke”, it’s just a black female character.

While I agree with you it stinks of “woke”, I’m willing to look past it if the character is done well. I do think your right in your assessment. She’ll be the big hero at the end of it, saving Kenobi or something against Vader. If she’s propped up at the expense of Kenobi, it will be another case of them destroying the legacy characters in favor of propping their own characters up. They did it with Boba and Fennec. Boba was weak and stupid, while the Fennec was the smart and decisive one. I don’t even hate Fennec, but it’s just so obvious in that show.

Isn’t there a rumor going around that Kenobi will be in Andor?

Totally agree. A “strong female character” is never just a “random strong female character” in Disney Star Wars, we all know this. Rey, Holdo and Fennec (in BOBF) had the power to make men around them seem stupid. This new inquisitor have more screen time than any other character in the trailer. It isn’t a “conspiracy theory”, the concern is real.

How about you allow people to discuss things instead of trying to remove people that have opinions you don’t like?

“Woke” is a word used by the intolerant to demean attempts at any social progress and to strike out at groups they don’t like.

It’s happened countless times throughout Disney Star Wars that I don’t get how people don’t see it.

Well, people who cry out against “wokeness” tend to be racists, homophobes, transphobes, sexists, and a variety of other things. I think it’s easy to disregard people who complain about things being “woke.”

You cry about people using buzzwords like “woke” than go on to use an entire arsenal of buzzwords to demean any criticism - racists, homophobes, transphobes, sexists. You do the exact same thing you claim other people are doing. It’s whatever though, let’s just agree to disagree.

No way I’m backing a losing bet 😃

Let us get back on track before the mods make us shall we?

This show looks like trash, sadly. As an earlier post noted…without the music it would be a really boring trailer. The inquisitor looks like something designed by a Gothic teen that thinks they are edgy.

But honestly, ever since they made Owen and Beru people known to Vader and Tatooine THE PLANET HE WAS BORN AND RASIED ON the whole Obiwan watching over Luke idea from SW77 is incredibly stupid.

I mean, originally Vader was not Luke’s father, Beru and Owen were actually Obi wan’s family etc.

The more Star Wars they make, the dumber it becomes.

They are exploiting us fans. Disney is an unbelievably vile corporation - one of the megacorps that would be featured in dystopian sci-fi movies. Yet people keep feeding this beast. I won’t.

As the kids say; end rant.
