the Original Trilogy on iPod?

So everyone, it's getting to be that time of the year again when many re-runs of egg-nog, It's A Wonderful Life, & m&m's with santa hats will be upon us. With such of course is also the rush of consumerism that is also a symptom of the Christmas spirit these days. Short & sweet of the matter however, is there anyone here who has also thought of getting an iPod Video (60gb) that also has wondered if the original trilogy could be put on it?

I haven't heard of anything like Daemon Tools for it yet, but I know it would take .avi
What kinds of ways might be possible to use in order to get it on one? Personally I was thinking that you could use some program to convert the .iso of the film into .avi then transfer it, but that way strikes me as that it would yield a potentially huge .avi & besides, i'm not sure of any programs that could do that anyway.

Anyhow, any thoughts on such a plan?

The iPod video plays MPEG-4 and H.264 video in .mp4 files (true MPEG-4, not divx crap)
You can use Handbrake to convert a DVD to MPEG-4 or H.264 format (and the latest version of Handbrake supports iPod export)

Let's say you encode in H.264, using the maximum bitrate supported on the iPod (768 Kbit/s), a 2 hour movie eats up 675 MBytes.

And by the way, it has already be done, I've seen the Original Star Wars (Ep IV - A New Hope), ready for iPod, on a torrent site...

Well that would indeed work for Mac/Linux users it looks like...however, from the description it seems that Windows users are out of luck.

Though some of the solutions Here look like they might work..

Yep - did it with ESB whilst I was travelling recently! Actually it was the 'first draft' of my Building Empire project and let me tell you it was really cool to watch it on my PSP!
