I’m trying to download the 1.6 Blu-ray, but in addition to the first file being AWOL, FreeRapid is giving me an error message on the other parts. Can anyone help me out?

Every movie you see that says Dolby Stereo has 4 channel matrixed surround sound. The simplified home version of the decoder was called Dolby Surround and only extracted the surround channel from the existing 4 channel matrixed surround. It is a simple matter to generate an LFE to go with it. The 70 mm 6 track was comprised of left, center, right, surround and two LFE channels. Before Dolby Stereo, you either had optical mono soundtracks or magnetic 6 track (there were some older formats that were 4 track). But there was only one surround channel. The two extra tracks were either mid right and mid left or LFE. 5 front channels kind of made sense with some of the very wide format movies presented on very large screens.
The 1985 and 1993 mixes should be matrixed as well. Some of the later matrixed surround contains 2 surround channels. Dolby Surround equipment can extract 1 surround channel. Dolby ProLogic can extract 1 surround channel and the center. Dolby ProLogic II can extract 2 surround channels and the center. There have to be 2 surround channels to extract or it will just duplicate the single surround channel. LFE is usually mixed with the surround and cut off between 80 and 120 hz. The LFE channel isn’t necessary as most systems will direct the low bass sounds to the subwoofer and filter them out of the surround channels.
The original 77 Dolby Stereo was included in video releases before 1985, including multiple LD releases. I am currently working on a way to extract the original multi channel audio from the stereo source. If it works I should be able to create a 4.1 channel AC3 or DTS file for the original audio. From my first attempt with the 1985 soundtrack, I think I can extract a full 5.1 channels from it and the 1993 soundtrack.
Maybe a dumb question here, but what do those different tracks translate to on a contemporary Theatre Processor? What setting would I use for Dolby Stereo? What setting for a 70mm 6-ch mix? I know they wont be perfect, but along with the visual, I want the audio to match as close as possible to a 77’ viewing experience.

On myspleen. But you’ll need an invite first, if you haven’t one already.
Was the replacement ANH crawl ever finalized? I think I’ve only got the first version prior to everyone tweaking the color and making improvements. Just wondering so I can go ahead and burn the disc. 😃

Yeah I am in the same boat. It seems this project might have lost steam with the other things Williarob is getting involved with. But it would be nice to know for sure before burning my disc 😃

I’m looking at a link for the ISO on myspleen at this very moment. It says it was added on June 18.

First, I was excited that we’ve found Jesus, and also that he’s a fan of the original version Star Wars preservation projects; I was thinking that was basically all the joking comment I would make… but then I saw that “a greeting” line, which just kills me… 😆
I think he used an auto translator.

I’m just poking fun at the results of the translation, please understand that despite my joking I do respect you for putting in the effort to try and communicate in a language you’re not comfortable with.
A sincere greeting.

Can anyone help to tell me if I just fantasized that there was a german audio track for v1.5 available? I thought I muxed a MKV with this audio track some time ago, but I can’t find the MKV… My memory tells me I found it on myspleen back then, but I can’t find it anymore (well, “if” I did found it there…).
The v1.5 version was uploaded on the spleen but it was later removed by the site’s administrator. That version would have only 3 audio tracks–1 English stereo track, 1 English mono track, and 1 Spanish stero track. Perhaps you might be confusing the audio tracks with the subtitles that include English, Spanish, French, German, Italian & Finnish.
Anyway, an updated version, v1.6, is now available. The audio tracks here are the same as the ones from v1.5. If you wish to listen to the German audio track with this version, you would have to mux the German audio mix from Harmy’s Star Wars Despecialized version to the v1.6.

Thank you. I’m beginning to believe I did mistake the german audio track from the Grindhouse version for ESB… I’ll do as you suggested.

In english: I’m just telling him that I’m from Spain too, and that he should avoid the common spanish expression “Un saludo”, as Google translates it literally as “A greeting”, which is hilarious 😃
To those whose spleens have still been itching for a 5.1 mkv, today is your lucky day.
Dumb question: has anyone else been having problems burning this to disc and playing it in a standalone player? I’ve tried twice to get this burned and ready and both discs are stuttering messes when played on standalone players (despite the fact that they verify as good in Imgburn and play fine in PC drives)? Is the bitrate actually too high for some players or is the Verbatim media I’m using simply crap that doesn’t read right in certain players?
