I am new to this world and really appreciate all the hard work the creators of these projects put into them. I’m happy that I can show my kids and their friends what Star Wars looked like and how it captured our imaginations back in the “old days” before CGI took over.

Now to ask my noob question: Is this considered the “grindhouse” version of Star Wars to accompany the Renegade ESB version? I can’t seem to find any Star Wars version that is similarly named (e.g. Renegade, Grindhouse, etc.). I found the Renegade ESB on usenet, but it’s very old and I’ll need to figure out how to get my xsusenet account to download it.

Again, thanks for making Star Wars a great experience for me again.

Could somebody upload the synced 5.1 audio to usenet?
I don’t have a myspleen account either.

^^I looked at that earlier today, too. I just never think about posting those when I see them.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

It is an 83 LPP, but we already have plenty of those.

I am new to this discussion. I have been trying for a while to download Negative1 version of ANH. I have joined usernet.nl May be this is the wrong usernet. I have tried searching and can’t find ANH. Can someone post an idiots guide.

Are you searching for TNH? I’m not sure what that stands for, but I do believe the silver screen edition is on usenet.

Sorry should be ANH. I am on usernet.nl and have tried searching but to no avail. I am searching files or multipart files? What should I put in the search area. Thanks

Little surreal - Entertainment Weekly article on this:

That IS pretty surreal. Hard to say what kind of effect a major publication going to LFL for comment on these projects is going to have, though. Hopefully it will show them there is an interest in, and desire for, a proper restoration; and not just cause them to get all ‘cease and desist-y’

Yeah, I’m not sure of the reason for doing interviews, Lucasfilm know that all of us here on OT exist, and probably who we all are, but I feel like poking the bear isn’t the best idea.

DL’d it and watched it. It’s fucking beautiful. It’s just such a “pure” experience, it doesn’t get any more filmic than this (and the grain structure throughout and the occasional celluloid blobs and worms or whatever those things are popping up for a frame don’t detract from it at all, they actually add to the feel.) Absolutely phenomenal job.

Shouldn’t “Saved” be in quotes too? It’s not really saved. Mike Verta’s 4K version is saving Star Wars.

I agree with Poita. Don’t go poking sleeping bears. But maybe this Bear will respond kindly? Star Wars fans are bears too.

Star Wars fans are Ewok sized bears but we saw what they could do in Jedi.

Search for Silver.Screen.Edition.35mm.v1, posted 17th Jan on alt.binaries.starwars. It’s a collection of rar files (password: negative1).

Just to add, many thanks to everyone responsible for the work involved in making these 35mm scans. The SW Silver Screen Edition, ESB Grindhouse and ROTJ Grindhouse releases are all glorious. I was 7 years old when I went to see Star Wars in 1977, so these bring back many happy childhood memories for me.

If anyone could do this it would be much appreciated (along with the original stereo & mono mixes). I had a MySpleen once, but I don’t remember my sign up details. I last used it to download the EditDroid laserdisc DVDs many years ago!

Starwarsnewsnet.com (previously starwars7news) is reporting the EW article as well. Hilariously, their image for the article is the gross dark recolored version of the final scene in the film, as used in 2004/2011.

Sorry man but I can’t, I would if I could but I know nothing about torrents. I used a combination of Paradox to grab the links, JDownloader to DL and combine them from Uloz, and tsmuxer to turn it into BD-compatible file.
