Looks damn impressive! Besides some crushed blacks I'm quite speechless. Good job.
“English, motherf***er! Do you speak it!?”
All aboard the hype train, choo choo! Seriously, looks great guys. I am so excited to see the finished product
May the Force be with you.
Niiiiiiiiiiiice!!!! Looking forward to this!
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.
thanks, downloading now, ooooh prores, is it higher than 8bit(24bit) colour?
as its from the 35mm print a 10bit release would be great (hint hint) in 4:2:2 :)
Looking very very nice... exciting times. =)
The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.
OK, so I'll be the critical one.
The colours look pretty good, but the whole video is so dark... even the blacks look crushed.
The motion is "weird". There's even some motion smearing, I hope that's the correct term. It's nowhere as bad as the GOUT but it's pretty annoying. And I didn't notice it in further scenes.
Owen and the stuff behind his back - what's going on ? In some shots it appears like Owen's stable, but the background behind him is "dancing", in other shots the background looks almost like a static painting. In the "he doesn't exist anymore" shot the whole picture is "weaving", just like in the shot where Luke wants to go to the academy.
The shot of the two suns the white sun is shaking. It's extremely annoying.
The rest is pretty much great.
I didn´t noticed it until now..
Great work, -1

Maybe Team -1 should put timecode on their clips? The community could provide an invaluable QC process.
I've noticed some of the issues as well.
And maybe it's only me but during the dinner scene, the outdoor elements seem a bit too bright.
Other than the already mentioned issues, I'm happy with the colors. :)

I agree that the colors look quite nice. I honestly never thought this print would look as good, color-wise, based on the early (and even more recent) samples. Not sure about the blacks being crushed. Probably not the best example to tell by, but doesn't seem unrecoverable based on this.
Regarding the 'dancing' I see some of what you're talking about and agree that having a time stamp would be useful to discuss more specifically. Seems to be incomplete stabilization and some single frame warping due to the scan itself. Noticeable in a few places.
Cleanup looks good, but still incomplete. The first night shot with the twin suns could use a bit in particular. And then from Luke's closeup to the end there are tramline issues. They're thin and migrate horizontally through static shots, so they should be removable to a decent extent. There's a rather bright one on the left in the very last shot.
Coming along nicely, overall.
I think it looks beyond amazing. Your team is great.
As for the crushed blacks, the blacks (hell, all the colors) look so much more like they looked when I used to watch the unaltered star wars on vhs that I don't mind at all.
This is a dream come true, for real.
Are the crushed blacks being discussed in this specific example just in the shots of 3PO in the dark?

That's what I assumed, and why I said that I remember that scene looking exactly like that on VHS.
It looks absolutely perfect! Thank you very much for the hard work!
an the blacks with uncle owen im sure.
is the "blue milk" in the tuppa ware containers blue enough bytheway? (and luke and aunts eyes?)
but the outdoors colours looks on point!

The Blue Milk looks spot on...Good job guys!
It looks very good. I can't wait to see the final version.
I watched the clip a couple times today. I was very impressed with the overall quality. As others mentioned, the image seems like it could stand to be a bit brighter, but that's really just a nitpick. It's exciting seeing this project progress.

The new clip looks great! The lows/blacks could be boosted just a touch, but not much.
That clip might be your best work yet. Aside from a very slight green tint (which has been around since this project started, but has lessened over time), it looks like an an actual theatrical showing*.
*The way my monitor is currently calibrated, it has an inherent black crush, so I can't judge that part.
EDIT:

The first shot with the twin suns looks fine to me. It's always had a lot of grain, so care must be taken not to over-clean it.
That preview looks simply amazing, can't wait for full movie to be released.
The clip looks pretty good but I noticed there's some artifacting going on as Luke stands up from the dinner table. As he stands up the metal bits on the two rear pouches on his belt as well as on the side of his chair flicker as if an automated scratch remover thought they were dirt and tried to remove them. This is at about 1:36.

I think that's gate weave that was introduced while the shot was being composited. Meaning that it's baked into the shot and to get rid of it you'd basically have to re-composite the shot. I think Mike Verta has a piece on it.
