Well, we're still waiting on the Tech Release you mentioned last year. But yes, it will be fun once we all get some releases going for Star Wars fans.

Team Negative1

 This Tech?

Since I posted about it, other prints came to light, I abandoned this as I got better prints to work from with less damage and better detail.

As mentioned in my thread, I am busy scanning prints at the moment, and am about a year away from having cleanup done and getting to a final image.

And yes, for anyone wondering, the sabre is Blue on the original prints, not Green :)

Here it is compared to Harmy's (which has a blue cast)...

Harmy 2.5:

The sabre is corrected from green to blue (as it is on the blu-ray, which I forgot about), but not the training orb back to grey/green. Chewy's colour certainly looks more natural from the print as well. As point pointed out below, this capture was from a "sub-par print" and was not colour corrected.

However, look how much closer to that print Harmy's looks than the other versions! What a testament to the correction he did to the film.

Put the official BDs under there; I'm sure it's still a massive improvement.

The image I posted is uncorrected, and from a sub-par print, so don't take it as a reference. Team negative one recently did a 'before and after' of this scene, you might want to grab an image from there to use as a reference, as I think they said they corrected part of this sequence.

Anyway, I'll put more details in my own thread when I get through this round of scanning, didn't mean to clog things up here, just answering the question posited re the Tech.

Cheers guys, that's all the versions, except for the GOUT, the TB 1997, the LD 1997, the other LD's, the HDTV, MV's Legacy Edition, the VHS and the 1977 bootleg cinema recording. ;)

Thanks for sharing that Poita. Its always cool to see other scans. Good luck with the project.

Which type of hard drives failed, so we can avoid them.

Yes special thanks go to poita for the posting.

And might I say thanks to the -1 team for all the preview they've shared thus far as well!! I don't always keep up with them, but we all appreciate it. Best of luck from me with the work ahead. :)

Seagate and WD Red 5TB. Samsung have also failed. One HGST drive doesn't sound right, but all other HGST drives have been fine so far.

I've had huge problems with seagate drives over the years.  Would not recommend them to anyone for even the simplest uses.

Haven't had a singe seagate failure except for the 5TB models.

So many people keep telling me various neg1 identities, so I figure it isn't actually much in the way of a secret...

Obviously, even the identities of -1 members cannot be true as they are all a part of TV's Frink's multiple personality disorder. The SEs are safely in the hands of Walt Disney forever; possession of any other version is punishable by death. This entire forum is just a sick dream in Frink's feverish imagination.

It's time to wake up. Rise and shine.

In reference to the failed HDDs: HGST seems to have the lowest annual fail rates:

And while we’re at it, we need to figure out why they kept calling Mark Hamill’s character “Luke Skywalker,” since it’s my subjective opinion that his name is actually Schnarzle Shnuzzle.  It just doesn’t make sense!

Damn you George Lucas for never explaining why they all keep calling Schnarzle “Luke”!

Damn You!!!

And what about 5tb drives? Segate's numbers improved the higher the density...

poita said 5TB Seagates are the only Seagates that have failed for him. (Which sucks because I bought five of them for him - though he specifically requested 5TB Seagates.)

Backblaze has some data about other drives, including Toshiba and 6 TB Seagates here: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/best-hard-drive/

and here is a full article on Toshiba drives: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/a-look-at-backblazes-toshiba-hard-drives/

They also offer their complete data sets if somebody is interested: https://www.backblaze.com/hard-drive-test-data.html

Thanks for all the feedback on hard drives. That will come in useful.

We are continuing the comparisons of Laserdiscs with the SE, and our uncorrected print here:
