True dat silverwook.  I wonder if M Verta is still on target for 2015?

I wonder why it matters.

Well, it could actually matter greatly - if he finished it before the release of the new SW film and offered it to Disney, they could use it for a BD release, which would be a perfect promo piece for Ep.7, which they keep telling us wants to follow in the tradition of the original films.

Well sure, but has he made any indication he would do something like this?

I hope this does get release but I am starting to think it may never happen.  I am very happy with Harmys work he has put into his projects.  An one thing I love about it is you know he will release it.  He may run into bumps and other life things can get in the way but he will come around to it.

Much like what occurred last year, with our screening of the Spanish LPP:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Private-Screening-of-Star-Wars-1977-35mm-spanish-LPP-USA-oct-2012/topic/14719/

This year, it's time for a screening of The Empire Strikes Back.

This will be a digital projection of an early version of our scan. Sorry, we can't give out the details as it's a private screening.

But we'll have pictures, and commentary about it also.

As far as releases go, we've had to rethink our strategy as I mentioned due to having 2 more high quality prints of Star Wars. 2 more prints of ESB, and of course ROTJ also.

It's not even a question anymore about if they will be released. It's just the logistics of dealing with so much data at once. We wanted Star Wars to be first. But then it looked like Empire was going to be done sooner. Now we know that Jedi would be the quickest. Maybe we'll release them in reverse order.

Thanks to all our supporters, who know what we've been doing.

There's a lot of activity going on right now, once things settle down, we can formulate a more optimal release strategy.

Can one garner an invitation to the private screening? I'm in Los Angeles, no idea where Team Negative One hangs out...

+1.  I'm also in So Cal...

(or should I say -1? )

Really happy to hear that this project has gone above and beyond our expectations and that you have secured so many high quality sources. This is going to be a great release and I look forward to it.

Nope, no socks here. :)  If either one of us were a sock (I assume you were implying that I was a sock for Joel, or vice versa) wouldn't you think he/she would be my sock? I've got more posts...

Now that I think about it, though, I think -1 is in the upper mid-west area (around Michigan)... Kind of rules out a digital presentation that I could get to.

Frink is playing on +1/-1, not implying that you're a sock, ww12345.  At least that's how I read it.

Yes, that.  If I weren't so respectful of this site and all its members, I would make a sock called +1 and...do stuff.

Oh, I would pay to see that, Frink. :)

It could be a repeat of the patman/patman debacle. lol

Before on the blog, they would have videos showing different parts of their project. There was the opening credits, the entrance to Mos Eisley, etc. they had a counter of how much footage per reel they had cleaned up. This is far from being 1) a hoax and 2) a private venture a la Mike Verta.
Is there any way I could see these samples?

I have them on my computer, but I don't want to post them without the team's permission.

Sorry, +1 would be banned right quick.  And I don't want to put Ric Olie in jeopardy.

I can't say anything much, but don't worry about it not happening, there is furious activity going on.

Can you state (roughly) how much time will pass? weeks? months? Just out of curiosity, I will wait, as all the other forum members, all the time is needed, but I can't wait to see your version released!

If you need laserdisc soundtracks for your projects, I have (almost) all of them! Ask, and I'll be happy to collaborate.

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

Will your projects be GOUT synced?

We will only be using the sound off the actual films for release.

Which means Spanish/English for Star Wars. English for the others.

These will be the new standard, they will not be synced to any other soundtrack.

That remains to be seen. I suspect, unless a very serious argument can be made that syncing to -1 is more theatrically accurate than syncing to GOUT, that a GOUT-synced version of your print will happen pretty quickly.

I think -1 means that these will be a new standard.  He doesn't want to throw frames out just because some other home video version did, and I can see why--you don't just discard parts of an historical preservation without a damned good reason.

However, I agree that a GOUT-synced version will appear almost overnight.  It's just required to make it useful for many people.

Ah, the GOUT. How I love thee...

It has one redeeming feature; that is, it's an easy-to-acquire/distribute reference for all of our work here.

I'd be surprised if -1's project isn't GOUT-synced already (after removing all of the leaders/etc. from the beginning, of course).

LFL went all-out in promoting that the DC would have "all the frames" and "more frames than ever before seen" in 1993.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

It'll be close, I'm sure.  But it only takes a two frame difference to be annoying to me.  And if -1's ROTJ has all of the frames from the PAL and NTSC GOUTs, then it's already 1 frame off from our PAL reference.
