there will be 6 of them to be exact. at least thats the plan right now, and i a pretty sure thats is how they are setting up the story arch. they have been developing the harry osbourne story for 2 movies now, and i think they will have harry become the second goblin in the 4th one.

If all six movies are good, then Spiderman may end up the best movie series in history. On the otherhand, movie series tend to drop as soon as their a trilogy, some times not even lasting that long.

Then again, the nature of Spiderman's story line makes it much better suited for sequels than many franchises.

Good point. However, I think your point about the trilogy curse is accurate. How long are these actors going to stay around? Personally, I think they should line up Elijah Wood to play Peter if MacGuire walks. Did you see him in Sin City? Looked totally like MacGuire.

I'm not sure it is that Spiderman is inherently better suited for a series than other superhero/comic movies as much as they haven't messed it up yet. Batman and Superman both started out with lots of hope for the future, but started to fizzle out at 3. At least Spiderman has thus far avoided two major pitfalls: No changes of director, and no comedians as villians. So I do hold out hope that Spiderman can keep going longer than the others. I guess I'm just would of perferred for them to have used at least one of the future villians they introducted in 2, instead of the seeming "easter eggs" for comics fans to notice.

as far as i know they have the story arch already planed out, like SM 2 was supposed to be part of SM 1 but they decided to break it up, and they have so many villians set up, venom, the lisard, and Green goblin 2 and so on

I have yet to understand the draw to Jake. I think he's this generation's equivalent of Powers Boothe in terms of acting ability.

Now, if you want a real Doppelganger for Tobey, get James McAvoy. He played Leto II in Children of Dune and will be in Narnia. I first saw him in Band of Brothers. Now THIS guy can act, dare I say much better than Tobey. Here's his IMDB pic.

my buddy told me that. and he is a huge Spiderman fan, like more so then most of the SW fans are SW fans here, so i inhearently believed him. i am almost positive that there is going to be at least 4.

I thought I heard that most everyone associated with Spider-Man(Producer,Director, stars,etc) only has 3 film contracts. So if this is the case, it might be impossible/cost prohibitive to get 4-6 done. But I could be wrong. I don't really remember where I heard this, and can't find anything supporting it.

yeah i heard about this aswell, they didnt want to put a contract in for 6 incase the line failed, but i think that for 4 - 6 they would try to reunite the cast, i doubt they will get everyone though

no they have more then enough to choose from to go to that garbage. they can introduce the blackcat, or they can have the full mutation saga. they got venom, and carnage, and dont forget all the vilians they have built characters for already, the lizard, and GG2

I have a bad feeling about this movie. Spder-Man 2 was excellent, it did what sequels rarely do: it beat the first in terms of quality. But, I'm afraid the creators will mess this one up.

the effects for the first 2 spider man films were amazing. and who did the effects? the one and only John Dykstra who did the effects for star wars in 77, and was summarily fired by lucas before empire or jedi. The new motion control that was able to make it look like spider man could climb and fly on his webs came from him, new digital camera and cgi work.

Anyone who want's to read about the making of either film pick up the books by Mark Cotta Vaz, who also wrote the best of the lucasfilm archives.

Darth Simon put up a link: SpiderFan.Org. It was also mentioned that that is a common misconception. Go to the site that was linked, click on character and look at Green Goblin and Hobgoblin, there are I think four for each. That'll give you the info you need.

Harry will undoubtedly be either Green Goblin 2 or Hobgoblin, regardless of the specific nature of the comics. Remember, Mary Jane in the movies is a condensation of MJ and Gwen Stacey into one character. It won't be a total robbery if Harry becomes Hobgoblin, except to the literal purist.

Ziskin did indeed tell Sam Raimi to "Wrap it up" in Movie 3. I doubt we'll see a movie 4 with the same cast because everybody will ask for too much money. Especially Kirsten, who is too sold on herself as an actress these days. Halle Berry was in that mode for a while. Then Catwoman happened, and suddenly she was more than happy to reprise her role as Storm. Maybe Kirsten will get that same slap in the face and will come back for a fourth film.

Or maybe they'll kill her off.
