REQUEST: Twin Peaks Season 2 - Cutting out the fluff.

The first 8 or so episodes of season 2 are better than season 1, but there is so much fluff half way through the season, is there any edits out there to cut this stuff out, such as james and his useless side story.

I wish i could edit them myself, there is so much potential.

Hi there, I have an edit called “Twin Peaks, A Chronological Cut” which is an edit of Fire Walk with Me, S1, S2 and Twin Peaks: The Return. This cuts out a lot of the fluff in season 2, some of the slower parts of the return and then the worst bits of season 1 and fire walk with me. Drop me a PM if you want the edit, and I can let you know which parts encompass season 2.

Well… This is strange. I’m currently in the middle of a Star Wars re-watch and just joined this forum to explore the fan edits a bit more, but I have been quietly working on a fanedit for Season 2 of Twin Peaks that cuts out the suck. The working title is presently Twin Peaks: Between Two Ferns. I was planning to make an announcement on Fanedit.org once I have a finished workprint done to show people.

IMO Season 2 of Twin Peaks starts and ends strong, the main problem is episodes 11-15 being almost entirely subplots. My edit combines those episodes into a single film, slimming down on the filler material. The idea is to watch the fanedit as a replacement for those episodes when watching season 2, otherwise you watch the remainder of the season as is. Currently its sitting at around 2 hours 38 mins long, removing 76 minutes of footage. I guess I’ll be making a proper announcement thread here when it’s ready. 😃

I have made fan edit of season two of Twin Peaks. I started it during the first summer of the pandemic. I would watch them over the winter and during that spring/summer fix what needed fixing, sometimes trimming some more.

Twin Peaks Season Two: The Clearcut Edit

There’s a blurb from it pasted below. Let me know if you are interested! I can follow up with what was cut/added or

I made my first ever fan edit back when I would binge-watch the original series annually at my friend Amanda’s house (via her VHS box set). I found that whatever group of us who were watching would just end up laughing and making fun of a bunch of the season 2 arc which would eventually take us right out of the show. So one time I brought my VCR over to her house and played all the episodes with James and Evelyn Marsh while pausing the tape on mine which was recording hers. That was my first fan edit lol.

With Twin Peaks: The Return coming out 25+ years later those scenes (plus many more) felt so pointless and meandering to me. I also found that Windom Earle was this extremely great and creepy character who was never quite given the chance to be either great or creepy. To me it felt like the writers were in a hurry to fill in the gaps left by being forced to reveal the killer early and ended up making the Windom Earle character needlessly hokey. Anyway, this ‘clearcut edit’ does exactly that: It clears up and cuts out entire storylines, character arcs and plotlines to keep the story focused while making Earle more menacing.
Some may question a few choices I made because I did take the greater Twin Peaks universe (according to what Mark Frost expanded on in his Secret History Of Twin Peaks books) into consideration and left in some characters and stories which connected with those.

(For fun I also made and extended version of Cooper’s Dream in episode 2 by adding in the extra footage from the European Version of the pilot).

Like I said, if you are interested please hit me up for more info!
