Was lukes lightsaber meant to be blue in Return of the Jedi. Because i was looking at some old trailers for it and his lightsaber was blue instead of green. Anyone no why??

They had originally made it blue like his father's, but they found that made it hard to see on the blue skies of Tatooine.

Hey, maybe Lucas could change it to red for the future blue ray or whatever release. Then it would parallel with rots and have luke be the first jedi to use a red lightsaber just like anakin was the first sith to use a blue one. It's so obviously symbolic, why hasn't anyone done it already?

I always thought the trailers were touched up to hide the fact that a new lightsaber color was being introduced. I mean, the blue looks pretty cheesy.

There is no lingerie in space…

I thought the green was significant because it was different to the typical blue. The first two lightsabers you see (Obi-wan's and Luke's) are blue, so when I saw the green, I thought - well obviously he has crafted a new, unique blade. But perhaps it was purely pragmatic to begin with (i.e. to make it easier to see in a desert landscape), and they wove it into the storyline.

Huh? No, I think you have it all wrong.

It was Lucas' original vision for Luke's saber to be green in the training scene on the Falcon.

Yeah, see, what was meant to happen was that the destruction of Alderaan caused a disturbance in the force, which caused the force crystals in the saber to shift to a greener hue.

This of course completely ignores the fact that the Force Crystals and Color Crystals are completely different parts of the Saber.
