problems understanding port forwarding

i have a netgear wireless router and do not completely understand port forwarding options. I am using bittorrent so this is rather important. I have gone into the port forward and port triggering and opened the necessary ports for bittorrent 6881 - 6999, but i have a dynamic IP address. Do i need to change the IP in my router/port forwarding settings every time??? Or are they open always? I do not havea static IP and do not know how to get one. Any help understanding would be very appreciated

I have a router so I can connect a 486 to the 'net on the side. I have my main computer DMZ'd so th at ALL ports are opened to it. BT works like a charm. ~.^

I would suppose the one your computer has now... I have DHCP set up, and DMZ to the IP of this computer, and it's never changed my IP, even through hard (i.e., yank the plug) resets.
