For the last three days whenever i visit the site i have maybe 50% chance that it's working. I used isup.me, so it's not just me.
It's down pretty much at random, at least between 1PM and 11PM CET.

It's gone down for me several times last week as well, the duration wasn't more than half an hour or so. However, I was unable to get onto the site for several hours last night. Finally gave up around 4 am.
Jay is the only one who can look into this though.

This just happened to me about twenty minutes ago.
Can confirm there was a short outage for me as well. Actually got a site error message this time, instead of just timing out. If it happens again I'll be sure to cap it, but I'm fairly certain it was just your standard old-school page not found.

It was java.net error if memory serves.

In my case, at least, the outages don't result in any error messages. I can't even traceroute to originaltrilogy.com when they're happening.
To see if it's a DNS-related issue, I'll try pinging the IP if/when it happens again.

Can you explain the nature of these outages a little more?
If the application server is running normally, but the database isn't responding to requests, then the server would throw an error. If the application server (or web server) weren't responding, then the request would time out and the browser would throw an error.

I have the forums as my home page so the outages manifest in one of three ways.
I log onto my browser and get a 'page not found' message (also typical with a line outage) but If I type something into a search bar the rest of the internet is there.
The forums are also on my 'favorites frame' if I open a new tab so I might click on the box there and get another 'not found' message but still have access to the rest of the internet.
Or I get a 'java.net' fault message like the other day which seems to indicate a Microsoft server problem as those sorts of messages don't appear on Unix servers.
Don't know if this has helped but I will keep my eyes peeled and paste you any further error screens or details that I notice.
I've had this happen to me almost a dozen times in the past week or two. I get a message that I "can't connect to the server" like I do when I have no internet connection. I still have access to all the other sites I have open, however. I've noticed that this usually happens within an hour or so of noon (MST time). It seems to be irregular though, as I've been unable to connect for an hour some times and had no problem around noon other times.

Please take a screenshot of the error or copy/paste it the next time you see it. The site doesn't run on .NET, but ColdFusion, which is based on Java.

It just went down again and this time the message read,
The server denies connections.
The server might be too busy or might be disabled. Try again a bit later.
Though it was showing the same java.net error earlier (I couldn't read your message about screenshots so I will try that next time).
I wasn't able to access the site last night either, but it was straight-up unavailable. I contacted the hosting service and asked them to investigate.

Where were you in '77?
I've never seen anything like the second, but I get my browser's version of the first. I lied about it happening at a regular time. It happened around 3:00 (MST) today and lasted about 15 minutes.
It's been happening to me every day but at completely different times. Just a generic error like the first image SilverWook posted.
