my Empire Strikes Back 'Concept and Storyboard' Short video project

Hi everyone,

I just did a short film setting some ESB storyboards and concept art to sound from the finished film.  I have always loved the concept art for the Star Wars films and wanted to do full length fan films setting the art to the sound.  Unfortunately, I don’t have the time for that, but I did the first scene of ESB in the hopes that some other enterprising individuals would take up the effort and do their own scenes so that I might one day get to see the whole thing like this.  Anyway, it’s brief but I hope that some of you will like it.

Here’s a version of the same without Ken Burns camera movement:

This is something I have actually been planning for years, I thought of doing it as an alernate video track for a release.

I have been collecting as many storyboard and art images as I can over the last 8 years, if anyone knows of any, please let me know. It takes a ridiculous amount to make something like this work.

I wish Lucasfilm would release a storyboard book with all the storyboards for each film, I would pay almost anything for something like that!

I think the ESB art is the best of all of them as well, thanks for putting this together an re-motivating me!

This is wonderful, Oleo.  I'd even be happy without all the camera movements.  I've had dreams of accomplishing this as a website of some kind, people could tag images to the specific sequence of the movie, then in slideshow fashion, they would be played thru as you've done with the movie audio.

A SW-Prequels book was announced: http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/index.php/2012/10/18/star-wars-storyboards%E2%80%94the-prequels-book-announced/ [there was a strange clause that new ones were being drawn...]

There is a Storyboard thread in the General forum: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Story-Boards-Thread/topic/13004/

I know exactly what you mean.  I have never gotten my hands on as many storyboards as I would have liked to have for something like this.  I have been daydreaming about doing this with high resolution scans and rare sources forever, then this morning I took out what few books I already have, took photos with my phone and spent a little time editing the slide lengths to match the sound as best I could.  It's not the monument to SW art that I had been daydreaming about for years but it's what I could do in a day and I really hope it inspires you or anyone to at least do another scene.
