I love what you did with both Alien & Aliens. I actually ended up making an edit of your Aliens regrade by cutting out the colonists scene and also the awful bit where Hudson talks about being' 'the ultimate badass'. Left all the other extra bits in the gonna watch it through at some point soon and see how ift works...

 Careful now.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to imply.

kk650 doesn't like it when you refer to a release as 'definitive' - if you're referring to someone else's work, at least.

No reason for you to know about all that though, sorry for confusing you.

One question, kk650. I am in the process of downloading the parts for your 50-gig Phantom Menace regrained but it appears it may be too large to fit onto a BD-50 disk. Do you know if this will fit on one?

Its called showing respect for the hard work of others Jonno. If somebody called any of my work 'the definitive version' of a film I would be the first to ask them not to do that because I feel it is disrespectful to other releasers. I am satisfied with the quality of my releases without having to belittle other releases by considering mine 'the definitive version' of a film.

If you want to post about my releases in this thread, you are welcome to. If you insist on posting off topic and dredging up old disagreements not relevant to these releases in order to start arguments, do us all a favour and move along.

No sadly it won't, my only concern was maxing out the bitrate with the 50gb release, not that it fit on a bd-50.

Thanks! I imagine everybody has their own preferences for what should stay and what should go in Aliens. There's probably no point doing a cut that just removes the Colony scene and the bit with Newt's family then.

Funcha, it just occured to me that you can split the phantom menace over a bd-50 disc and a dvd writable, use mkvmerge to split the file by size and check the 'linked parts' option so they will be linked together automatically when you play it. That would be one way of getting round the problem of it not fitting.

If you were so secure in the quality of your own work, you wouldn't presume to tell other people what words they're allowed to use in discussions about projects that have absolutely nothing to do with you.

My comments are as on-topic now as yours were then. But for the sake of those who appreciate your efforts, I will indeed move along - perhaps you'll allow those other discussions to continue unmolested in turn.

No problem man. We're all here on this thread to enjoy his work and there's no reason for a little misunderstanding get in the way of that.

Okay Jonno, you've had the last word. Good for you. Now that's done, if you have nothing to say about what this thread is actually about, my regrades, I once again have to ask you to move along.

Was wondering kj650 if you could do a regrade on the Dracula 79 Bluray bringing  back the colors of the original version before the Director decided to mess around with them and almost make them monochrome. I requested it over on another forum but didn't get a reply. Would think it would be a good project for your amazing skills.

I've had a look at the blu-ray screencaps for Dracula 79 on blu-ray.com and I believe it's too far gone, there is basically no colour to speak of in that transfer, no way to bring back the original colours using that transfer IMHO, you'd need access to the footage before it was graded.

There was someone on the forum there that said if you pump up the colors and change a few other things it basically can be brought back, I believe they included some screenshots of this in practice and compared them to the old vhs copy and it looked pretty spot on. Maybe you could have a look with your amazing skills and tools at your disposal.

I've had a look at the comparisons of this film on caps-a-holic and the blu-ray looks the same as the DVD in terms of colour. Can you point me to some screencaps showing how you feel this film is meant to look colourwise? It would give me a better idea of whether there is anything I can do in this case.

The thread on the Bluray over at Blu-Ray.com has some screenshots from the original Vhs posted by someone called vidjunkie(Page 9), Tcm broadcast posted by someone called mymythos(page 8), someone else tinkering with the screenshots in Photoshop called jacksparrow900 (Page 8 and 9) to give an idea of what can be done with the colors as well as someone called DMRI2006 who is willing to offer a laserdisc copy of the original color timing (Page 9).

Someone else has requested this over at fanres as well.

I've checked out the screencaps on fanres and its clear that a hell of a lot of work would have to be put in to try to restore the colours on a shot by shot basis. I'm amazed at how good a job Andrea's color matching scripts did.

This Dracula 79 project requires way too much time investment for it to be of interest to me but I hope that somebody else will be willing to put in the time to do this justice, those more colourful screencaps from the tcm broadcast do look very nice indeed, the blu-ray screencaps look incredibly dull by comparison.

It is a shame Alien Resurrection cannot be corrected

Like, color corrected, or actually corrected?  Because that movie needs all kinds of correction.

Honestly, I see no effective difference in most of those T2 comparisons.  And even for the ones I do see a difference, I'm like, eh...

The difference can really be seen between this and the skynet edition. Skynet edition was a dnr mess whereas the Spanish edition bluray has the majority of grain and detail left intact.

I was unaware that "regrading" fixes that sort of thing.

I don't think anyone ever said it would. What I said and perhaps I should have been a little more clear was that the source used for his regrade is superior to the skynet edition.

Sorry if I causes any confusion.

Was gonna agree with Frink but I'm glad you said that :)
