"TIE Fighter" the game had the TIEs with what looked like elevator tubes to deposit the pilots into the top.

In some of the film mattes you see TIE craft hanging from the ceilings of hanger bays and what appear to be boarding platforms positioned around where the craft can be raised or lowered for access.
I'd imagine if they made a surface landing getting in and out would be a bit like getting in and out of a tank.
You might need a ladder or something like that to get from the ground to the connecting vane between the pod and the wings but it would be a pretty easy task to climb in and seal down the hatch once you were up there.

What I'd really love to see is a Robot Chicken sketch where they have two pilots on a TIE: one to fly the ship and the other with his face by the window to make the "yaaaaaaaaahhh" sound.
I love the TIE fighter sound, to me it's one of the most iconic sounds of the saga. This summer, if you happen to spot a white car on the highway with some dude with his head out of the window doing the TIE fighter sound, that's probably me.

This part of the forum is called "General Star Wars Discussion", right? So what's wrong with starting new threads discussing things that don't already have a thread going?
Maybe it's the sickness and cold medicine, but it seems to me that discouraging people from starting new threads on new topics defeats the point of a general discussion forum.

I think Frink was talking about a thread where little bits of random trivia can be discussed.
Lots of separate threads such as "Do Dugs Have Christmas Stockings Or Mittens?" wouldn't last long but in the context of a Random Star Wars thread they could pop up, be answered and then another random thought could keep pass the baton on.
It not discouraging at all as far as I can make out.
