I didn't even catch that typo, but it looks like it made my post funnier, so I'm not going to change it.

Darn, I thought this would be some sort of compendium of letters actually written to Lucasfilm and the fan club over the years. Not email sent to some unofficial website that George will never read.
The art of Star Wars reprinted a few, IIRC.

A book of fan mail! I can imagine how one of our letters might read:

Dear Lucas:

Kindly quit being stupid and release the original versions of the Star Wars Trilogy. Your new ones stink. Nobody likes them. We want the old versions.

Are you listening?

WE WANT THE VERSIONS WE GREW UP WITH!! Make us happy.

Best regards,

Honestly I think Lucas is in denial. I think he see's somewhere in his heart and/or mind the mistakes he made on the SEs and prequels, but he is such a perfectionist he doesn't want to admit to them.

I agree. I think his ego is clouding his judgment.

That book must be hilarious... I would read it.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I agree that he is a perfectionist: about the wrong stuff. He put incredible painstaking detail into his digital Yoda and his other computerized creations, forgetting the story in the process. In my opinion, he should have gone with a puppet for Yoda in AOTC (wouldn't that really tie the trilogies together?) and worked on the dialogue, casting, and acting more. Then we wouldn't have the ridiculous Yoda/Dooku saber scene.

I am a believer in the theory that the less resources a good director has, the better his movie is (up to a point). Because instead of relying on fancy special effects, huge sets, and everything else to drive the story, he has to find creative ways to make the dialogue and action good enough to carry the movie. You get interesting camera angles, humourous moments, and other things that they wouldn’t have bothered with (with more money) but that they need to keep the film interesting. This intensity and high acting standards are often lost when the director has other things to fall back on, and I think that’s what happened with the Prequel movies.

I agree with most of what you said, except that I heart the Yoda vs Dokuu scene. Except for the part where Yoda leaps around the room, because that just seems to me that it was a "HEY LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO WITH OUR CGI YODA!" scene.

But the actual confrontation was awesome IMO.
