dual layer discs

anyone got a brand of dual layer dvd that is good for Sony DVD players.

going to be needing to order some soon and I'd like to get something people have had experience with, especially if they've used it on NEC DVD 3540A dual layer burner.

Tayo Yuden or Verbatim DatalifePlus are the best discs out there. I don't know any specifics on your particular hardware, but these two brands of media produce the least amount of coasters of anybody.

go with the +R, there are a few, very few, -D DL disc but not many people use them so I would not go with them.

Tayo Yuden are slighty cheaper then the Verbatim DatalifePlus, but then again Verbatim has been around for ever.

WHAT?!? Some lowercase letters from DAYV?? My world has just been rocked...

I saw a couple of brands of -R DL when I was in Japan a month or so ago, but even there they were much more expensive than +R DL. You can check compatibility with standalones over at videohelp.com.

Verbatim has been great for me in both +r and -r format. +r is a bit cheaper still.

Memorex, Verbatim and Ritek have all worked great on my NEC 3520a

I've burned hundreds of Riteks, and I've yet to make a coaster as well (on my 3520a also, thanks again for that tip, Rik.
