I could make my own for less than that.
Yeah, but who's gonna mount it kid? You?
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
Hmmmmm...no bids. Wonder why? ;-)
Geez, you could probably buy a pristine 70mm print of the movie for less than that.

I saw an SW style "D" poster in a Hollywood memorabilia shop once that looked like it could cover the entire side of a two story house. Only the top half was even visible inside the store. No idea what the asking price was...
Where were you in '77?

That's what she said...
There is no lingerie in space…

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
Am I the only one who misread this thread title as "$42,000 rooster?"
I sure hope so.
Maybe that can be your new User Title?
Only two days left for the poster. You think Steve Sansweet has seen it?

Apparently it can be.
Looking at the poster, I can see why it's soooo expensive. You have to be the biggest and richest Star Wars fan on Earth to own it.
A tad overpriced.
Fucking ripoff I'd say.
If it was $420 I would say cool. $4200o?? Fuck off. Its folded to shit and can't even be practically displayed because of its size. No one stupid enough to buy this has that much disposable income.

Ah, but you must have overlooked this little nugget:
Buying this poster is ECONOMY PROOF! Why waste your money in the stock market? It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won't inspire anyone! With the purchase of an historic document such as this original Star Wars 8-sheet poster, it doesn't matter what happens to the economy, you will still have the inspirational document which can be displayed and enjoyed. The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. Unless civilization itself crashes then this piece will hold its value and if civilization itself crashes - Who will care about money? This poster is definitely ECONOMY PROOF!
:P

Haha, well in his defense I am a terrible financial planner. Maybe I'm not investing enough in Star Wars posters that cost half the price of a small house.
The only novelty item that would be worth that much (and more) would be the copy of Double Fantasy that John Lennon signed for his killer only that morning. This poster could just be re-made in Photoshop.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Hey, a house can burn down or get drafty or be repossessed. But this poster is historic!

Aw damn, I thought you said possessed. I've been having a bit of problem lately with some invisible entities....
How do you think he came up with that price?
Either they had it "appraised", looked it up in a movie poster price guide, (semi-useless where Ebay bidders are concerned) or somehow white mice are involved. ;)
Where were you in '77?

It seems roosters are generally cheaper than 42000.

I would give several of my bodyparts for that.
...
On the other hand, buying something that belonged to Chapman.... which I despise... but John signed it...
I'll just cut my leg off, and then I'll think about whether buying it or not.
