Cassian Andor - Live-Action Series — Page 5

Take it with a grain of salt but IMDb claims George Lucas is writing two episodes for the show. I’d love for it to be true but they also said Ben Burtt was involved with The Rise of Skywalker and that proved to be false. Here’s hoping though as I’d love see him involved again and more stories from him!

"Pleasure’s fun. It’s great, but you can’t keep it going forever; just accept the fact that it’s here and it’s gone, and maybe then again, it will come back, and you’ll get to do it again. Joy lasts forever. Pleasure is purely self-centered. It’s all about your pleasure: it’s about you. It’s a selfish, self-centered emotion, that is created by a self-centered motive of greed. Joy is compassion. Joy is giving yourself to somebody else, or something else. And it’s a kind of thing that is, in its subtlety and lowness, much more powerful than pleasure. You get hung up on pleasure; you’re doomed. If you pursue joy; you will find everlasting happiness.” - George Lucas

Still my most anticipated current Star Wars project, and that practical street set only adds to that.

A street is enough to get you excited ? Damn, I miss being young :DDDDDDDDD

I’m 48, but yes, streets from a galaxy far, far away do excite me.

I agree that I’m really excited for Andor, and that’s because we’ve got to see some set pictures and concept art. That’s enough to make me hyped! I’m convinced this will make a really great Star Wars story.

I actually think Andor has a great premise. You have a character that is not that high in the power or popularity tier levels but that has shown hints of depth and a nuanced morality, this makes it a great protagonist for a smaller-scale setting and stakes that still could make for an engaging plot and worldbuilding thanks to the spy aspect. Hopefully they will tackle Cassian’s Separatist past, that could make him stand out even more (since the canon has barely delved into the benevolent people on the Confederacy’s side). I really like the Star Wars underworld as a setting, because it offers a lot of opportunities to reach further in regards of what the galaxy has to offer in regards to tone, locations and setpieces.

I agree. There’s just so much potential to show scenes during the Imperial reign we haven’t seen much of before. I loved the the scenes on Lothal during the Empire’s occupation complete with propaganda and recruitment ads. Everyone gets dirty in war and to see more of that gray morality of the Rebellion would be interesting. Everything has a cost. Plus I think Diego Luna is great. This can’t get here soon enough.

New Pics Arrive from Cruachan ‘Star Wars: Andor’ Sets
https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2021/06/new-pics-arrive-from-cruachan-star-wars-andor-sets.html

“Last month we reported that Lucasfilm was moving the production of the series to Scotland, specifically to the Cruachan Reservoir, in the Scottish Highlands. Watchtowers and other very Star Wars-y buildings and vehicles are now covering the Cruachan landscape, meaning that filming there is either still happening or about to begin.”

Minor point, but I would just like to point out how nicely the Scottish highlands could pass for a more mountainous region of Dantooine.

Maybe just a pipe dream of mine. 😉

I didn’t even think of that, but it would make a lot of sense for this series to show us Dantooine. Plus, from what I can tell the planet hasn’t really been featured at all in the new canon so they can technically do what ever they want with it.

I would love to finally see the surface of Dantooine as we only saw the planet from space in Rebels, but doesn’t that look like an Imperial turbolaser?

Yes, it looks like the same type of turrets that were on the surface of the DS. I was so focused on the Hoth-type turret that I completely forgot about the other one. Then again, Andor should be a few years before the Rebel Alliance got proper support, i.e. Mon Calamari designed ships, and so forth, so I suppose at this point in canon they simply steal whatever they can get their hands on. I mean even some of the “Rebel ships” from the OT are canonically stripped down or modified Imperial or even Republic era ships; such as the Y-Wings being Clone Wars fighters and the Nebulon-B frigates being decommissioned Imperial vesels. But then again, the Hoth-turrets are probably stolen too, so this “Scottish planet” could simply be an Imperial setting. Though now I really do hope it’s actually Dantooine.

Dantooine was close to being featured in Rogue One, concept art was even done, IIRC.

Seeing as to how The Mandalorian drew some elements from abandoned concepts for the films, (Moff Gideon’s TIE with landing gear was done for TFA, among other things) I could certainly see Andor doing the same. I mean, if the work has already been done for designing the planet, why not use it?

In A New Hope that officer says they went to Dantooine, but it looks like it’s been deserted for some time. I say it’s a possibility, if they’re going for that nostalgic factor, which they did in The Mandalorian, by heading to Mos Eisley, etc.

Another possibility is Bestine, from the Luke and Biggs deleted scenes talking about making contact with the Rebellion.

It would be cool to finally see those places like Dantooine and Bestine in live action.

If Andor is set after the official formation of the Alliance (i.e. Rebels season 3) there’s a reasonable chance we may see one of the forgotten rebel bases such as Dantooine.

I think Bestine was a town on Tatooine on the way to Mos Eisley. Dantooine was more dry in the old EU but they could change that in post. Either way these locations with Turbo Lasers are pretty cool.

Bestine is definitely a planet. It’s been referenced before in an animated series, I can’t remember which one.

Clone Wars, the Republic had a fleet there.

Turns out it’s both which is just annoying.

I’d say it is Dantooine, I’m like 95% sure that it is.

Was Alderaan always a peaceful planet with no weapons?
