He could theoretically ban by MAC address with the right software. He'd only need one shot at his IP (assuming he's not using dynamic addressing, which makes the release command moot at the level of the last octet if someone else grabs his previous one).

i remember jimbo nd he wasnt that bad at all. i really dont know why people gave hm such a bad time. however if i was him i wouldnt come back just by they way he was treated here, so no need to worry about him.

C'mon SHim, in nearly every other post, he either said "F*** you!" or "I wan't to f*** Natalie Portman!"

And the forum became a Hekuvalot more peaceful when he was banned. Granted that also had something to do with Reg leaving, I suppose.

Or he could wait until his IP lease expired and then reboot, or use a product like GhostSurf, or use an anonymous proxy server, or any other way around banning. Depends on how much work one wants to do.

The IP ban could be done in a more broad fashion, meaning Jay could ban the range in the first two octets, of course that would ban anyone else in that range.

you know thats not true alot of them had that but nto every other post, and he shouldnt be banned because of the way he feels. he was only getting into fights with other people when they started one with him i read like 7 or 8 of them myself, and the last one when he was finally banned was most definatly not his fault. hte truth is jay knew that, its just jay was getting pissed off at people always coming to him and wineing about it so he just got rid of the annoyance.

He wasn't banned simply because of the way he felt about the various projects. He was banned because he was consistently going into those same projects and berating the posters for continuing their projects, or posting them in the Preservation forum.

It's one thing to make your feelings known - it's another to do so sereval times a week, for the sole purpose of shouting people out of a forum. DB wanted the forums run the way he wanted, and the LD transfers to be done the way he wanted, regardless of what anyone else wanted. His constant attacks, after several warnings, are what got him banned.

Jimbo was banned because he was an obnoxious bigot.

The only reason he was allowed to stay for so long was because he was a fan of the prequels and SEs, and he provided a minority opinion in an overwhelmingly pro-OT forum. It kept people talking, which is always a good thing for a forum.

It was when he decided to start insulting people based on their sexual orientation that he was permanently removed.

He was an immature jackass with a lot of growing up to do.

It wasn't his opinions that got on my nerves so much as the way he expressed them. And he just wouldn't take a hint, so Jay had to ban him for the peaceful maintainence of the boards.
