Changing Sabercolors

Hi,
I am new to fan-editing and I wondered what kinda program do I need to use to change sabercolors?

First welcome to the forums.

I personally would use photoshop and after effects both by adobe to get this done. The adobe video collection professional contains both of these as well as some other kick ass programs for getting your video work done.

I highly suggest going out and picking up a copy if you plan on doing video work in the future.

I'm sure there is freeware available but I don't know what to use for that type of stuff that is as good as the adobe products. Don't worry I'm sure someone knows.

I already got Photoshop CS2, and am downloading the try out of After Effects (I first want to now if its worth spending the money)

Could somebody please explain to me how Adobe After Effects works? (Sorry for asking these questions, but i'm not very famaliar with this kinda software)

I already managed to restore my laserdisc to a very good level, added audio lines, etc., but I just can't mange to restore the lightsabers in ANH. Could soembody please tell me how to do this??
