Uhh...let's not make them available "regardless of quality."

I'll definitely get around to doing it and mine are from my masters.

I am not rying to beat you to it or nothing but I haven't even seen these yet. They are supposedly real good copies and if they are I would like to make it available to those who want. It is not a question of quality, I trust they'll be decent enough, and maybe until you get your masters up I could just trade these or send these to people?

Good to hear some progress being made on these.

I, for one, will be extremely happy with any of those proposed sets. In fact, in my obsessive compulsive way, I will probably try to get ALL of them.

I would be very grateful to be able to watch them regardless of quality. I know digitalfreak's will be worth getting whenever he releases them, his projects are always excellent. But in the meantime I have not even seen the majority of these and would be very happy to get the chance to.

I didn't mean for this to come across as any sort of "race" to get them torrented. Clearly, if yours are better, get them the hell out there. I'll even torrent them for you. Plus, it will save me the trouble of torrenting mine. But if yours end up having questionable video quality and mono sound, I will definitely do better.

Wouldn't the ideal thing be that 5acrifice sends a disc or three to digitalfreaknyc so he can compare the quality to his own? Then if they are better 5acrifice can get them out there. Besides, it seems 5acrifice will be getting 2 different sets, is there any episodes or bookends or whatever that 5acrifice might be getting that dfnyc doens't have?

Btw, I'm sure that however they come out, whether they get released by one of you or both of you, that many people will flock to download them. I know I'll try and track down a set in trade.

To contact me outside the forum, for trades and such my email address is my OT.com username @gmail.com

I will look forward to seeing these sometime soon via 5acrifice, I hope. And I will be looking forward to an excellent release sometime in the future from digitalfreak, who really does come out with some amazing releases.

Give me just a little time, I have my car and some bills to pay off but I am getting both sets soon. I will probably get the 44 Episode one first.

Change of plans. I just read that the Young Indy DVDs will include the 22 Chapter versions so I may just purchase the TV series versions and leave it at that. If someone can find out when the official DVD release will be then I can maybe wait... or maybe if it is too long I'll get these first.

the official dvd will sure be released around the release of Indy IV

GL did say this last week. JediSage posted it in Off-Topic. No official announcement on IndianaJones.com yet, but it is supposed to be gorgeously restored, so it's probably worth the wait. Though if it doesn't include the original Old Indy bumpers in supplements, then theres a great excuse for preservation.

Really? George Hall was terrible, that's why he was removed.

It is still nice to have the originally aired versions. I will definately keep a place on my shelf for the 44 episodes even after the DVDs are out.

More info from Theraider.net on the official release.

"Indy Jones Chronicles are currently being cleaned up, are having documentaries added to them and will be shopped as “films for a modern day high school history class.” He’s [Lucas] hoping they’re released on DVDs very soon."

Update: IGN.com published an article on Lucas' Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs containing more detailed info and bits on the process of making this DVD collection:

The DVDs will include the reedited versions of the series previously available on VHS, which took the 44 episodes of the show and turned them into 22, 90 minute, feature length stories. Lucas conceived of doing this very early on, and when the series first wrapped production, shot footage that would help link the episodes more cohesively.

Lucas mentioned how the series was shot on 16mm, which allowed more money to be spent on the production and allow for longer shooting schedules than it would have otherwise had. However, he said, "we're in the process of enhancing and cleaning up [the picture] for DVD." Having mentioned the cost constraints the The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was under, he also humorously stated, "We're spending more to clean things up then we did to shoot it."

Well, I just paid off my car and all my debt and whatnot and I got my first paycheck from my new job so once I cash it and it clears I think I may order the sets.

There's a guy on eBay UK selling what he claims to be 3 reels of 16mm camera test footage from Young Indiana Jones. Take a look:

Apologies, I don't know how to link directly to a page.

Hey there.

I was wondering if anybody knows who did the paintings used for the VHS-covers of the series. I always though it was poster-god Drew Struzan who did them (the style was very similar to the movies' posters), but according to The Drew Collector Page Struzan only did the basic drawings that he was going to use to paint over, until the project got canned for a while:
Drew painted this beautiful advertisement as an introductory ad to the series, which advertisement ran in a number of magazines. Years later Drew was called on by George Lucas to paint all the box covers (12) for the video release of the series. Drew conceived, designed, got approved and actually did all the drawings over which he would complete the original paintings when, alas, Paramount canceled the project. For two years the drawings sat in Drew's storage. Unfinished, unpainted but too good to dispose of.
Then, from out of the blue came the request to finish the paintings in one month after having been a dead issue for two years. Well, kind of a shock. Drew wanted to do them for two years and had quite a bit invested in them. Drew was booked! He couldn't meet the deadline to do twelve paintings in a month when they came out of nowhere wanting them. Nothing to be done since they wouldn't budge on the deadline. So Drew's beautiful designs, drawings and ideas were handed over to another artist to paint on.

Not everything is as it should be in the land of art. Everything is not as it appears. Do not be deceived when looking to collect the video covers for Young Indiana Jones, they are not wholly Drew's work.

I would just love to get hold of high-res, textless versions of these, since most of the European versions of the covers have the "Young Indiana Jones"-logo placed recklessly on the artworks, the "Mystery of Blues"-one being the worst of them all:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004U8J0.03._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Actually I would just love to have these painitings in some artbook (I was hoping to find them in Drew/Oeuvre, but since he didn't do them after all, no luck). The artist credited on the paintings on the soundtrack-covers is Matthew Peak, but the style is somewhat different from the "posters", so I don't think he did them. Oh, and before you suggest the "International Movie Poster Database", the high-res images there are only scans of the spanish covers, which are identical to my German covers, which I can scan myself.

Does anybody have any info on these?

Been reading this thread with great interest..hoping these get torrented, instead of waiting
for an official release. I'll purchase any official release, but i'd love to enjoy these eps before
2010 when they 'might' get a release. ;-)

The ones I ordered right now are the episodic versions, these will not be officially released. The film versions will however. Soon as this gets here I am either going to try to torrent the first few discs or throw them up on rapidshare (could take a very, very long time) and I will definitely be trading and PIFing.

By the way, you said it's 23 discs... are those DVDs or just CD-Rs, so that we have to assume they're in DivX-format or something?

22 DVDs menues and all 2 episodes per dvd. Quality I am told is 9/10. He said it will be a little while cause he needs to copy them and everything but as soon as he sends them I will give all the details.
