"Reserve a space for it next to the slash fiction featuring Obi Wan and Anakin."

Yuck!

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

That was my reaction at first too.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Sorry, I had to join up and write something because this is the first thread I have read here. First off, every point Scuffy had was completely valid and made sense. If you're ignoring EU and Prequel trilogy stuff this story might make sense (kinda), but even so, your asking for the impossible on this to make it into a fan film.

Also, to say you're getting mad at Scruffy for his reply is kinda wrong. You asked for what people thought and he had the patience and working knowledge of the SW universe to pick apart this story with a very complete and reasonable reply. If you're this sensitive to defend your position and work I don't think you will be able to muster a group to be able to knock this out anyway. Key thing with any big project is so know your limitations and what you can work with and possibly how much you can surpass that limitation. A project of this size would invovle shoots in several locations, the assitance of the 501st, huge sets along with CGI enhancement of those set, and a large cast with a bunch of tall folks for the wookiees.

A couple of points about the story as well:
Wookiees are an intelligent species who do understand Basic so they really wouldn't need a translator. It's humans who would have to learn their language. They are also rather advance in technology and a space faring species.

Flying an Income T-65 X-wing is not an easy thing. Even if someone like Leena who is on as you said, a "primitive world", has working knowledge of the Force it doesn't mean she would know how to lock s-foils in attack position or have the piloting instincts in a dog fights. When some one tells her to do something like "Roll into a Split S and frag the squint on the portside" or "Clear your scanner and I'll feed you my targeting telemetry for the next pass on that Imp Star Deuce Mark Two", She'd be like "What in the blue hell?!" At least Luke had his Incom T-16 on Tatooine which have controls similiar to the T-65. Also Anakin as a 10-year old raced pods and lived in Mos Espa near a spaceport probably had a fair idea on how to "pilot" but we even saw how weak that was in TPM, "oops!". If Leena was already an established pilot and had some kinda tatical knowledge then that would be totally different but that means a scene with something similiar to some primitive fighter craft where Leena would be taking the talk of a pilot.

Also Ackbar in a fighter craft is kinda weird unless he's not an Admiral and of course he's in a modified B-wing. Mon Calimari needs special adjustments to their fighters since their eyes have a very different spatial oreintation that humans along with the modifications to the fighter crafts control panels. Also if Ackbar is not an Admiral, then who in the heck is leading the assualt at the Battle of Endor? Mon Mothma is a leader but is no tactician. Leia has played the part of diplomat, ground troop, and princess but she is no pilot much less space battle tactician. Crix Madine is a commando and probably does know how to pilot but is not a tactical genius in space combat. Jan Dodona was captured after the Battle of Yavin... Wedge is a awesome tactician but he's only a squadron leader at this time... General Reekein maybe a good choice but as far as we know he only has coordinated a ground defense from an orbital assualt. Ackbar has to be an Admiral and during the battle so he couldn't be zooming around in ANY fighter craft because starfighters are too easily vaped.

Wedge put it best in an X-wing Rogue Squadron novel 'I know you like mixing it up just as much as I do Admiral, you just like the big ships while I like the fast ones...'. Well he actually thought that in his head and didn't say it to anyone but the quote stood out for me.

Also, Ackbar is so Winston Churchill and that's bloody cool! I love when he says "It's a trap!" because if anyone has seen "Star Wars in 30 Minutes" totally knows what I'm talking about!

Anyway, whatever the out come of this idea. May the Force be with ya all.
