Yoda talking in OT vs PT, way different — Page 4

"Yodas PT grammar is the same as his "crazy Yoda" gramma"

LOL...I believe you have a point there.

I also wanted to add to this perspective to the "don't you think that after being alone on an asshole of the universe planet for 20 years by yourself" reasoning. This would make more sense towards a person with a normal, human lifespan, but keep in mind that Yoda is 800 years old. Is 20 years of self imposed seclusion really enough to change an eight-century-old speech pattern?

Not that this proves anything one way or another - this thought had just occured to me.

JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

I always thought it was "...strong with the darkside, in you must go."

"in you must go." is correct.

And the "going nuts after 20 years of isolation" doesn't apply because we've already concluded his speech doesn't get crazy, it gets better over time. If it was the other way around, and Yoda's lines had been coherent in the prequels and "Bass-ackwards" in ESB, then I could accept that rationalization.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I agree with you completely about it getting better, it is totally "better" but at the same time it is certainly crazier or even demented sounding compared to the way he talks in the PT which is kind of boring and definitley different.
If only I'd been born in the Republic.

Well maybe it works the other way round with Yoda. Instead if your speech getting worse and jumbled in twenty years, like ours would, Yoda's speech is in reverse. Because he already talks shit in his sane him going crazy like a hermit in winter way, his speech becomes better, but to all the other Yoda's out there (yarrel - or whatever it was) he sounds like a crazy old hermit in the middle of winter!

Ive never had too much of a problem with his backward "Prequel" speak though some are of the things he spoke backward would have been better if it was more consistent with the way he spoke in the Classic Trilogy, though I do think some of his actions in the Prequel Trilogy did seem to me a little inconsistent with his characterization in the Classic Trilogy.

i know yoda is 'mr. war' in the prequels where he is the exact opposite in the ot

Well, I guess I could see that as something of character development, if I squint hard enough. That he learned from his warrioring mistakes.

I see what you're saying. But he fought in the PT because he had no choice, not because he enjoyed it, or wished personal gain.

It's like on our world, if a pacifist was drafted into war. They may oppose it and not like it, but they really have no choice.

i concede defeat, i just thought that was the point of his character, that he was a pacifist

Also in that case the progression works--we see in the PT the jedi become militants and it destroys them and brings evil upon the galaxy. The post-clonewars Yoda of the OT is a pacifist because he learned his leason the hard way. One of the few changes that actually works.

Yep, I agree. It would have been pretty bad to see an exact copy of the OT Yoda in the PT...

Exactly. People will complain either way. It's similar to something Rob Coleman was talking about when they decided to do the CG Yoda for AOTC. He said in the "puppets to pixels" documentary that if they were to use the puppet that everyone is familar with, a lot of people would expect more, saince it would have been combined with the new technology and the new age.
