Yoda talking in OT vs PT, way different — Page 2

I noticed the strange Yoda voice too. To me, though, it was mostly in TPM. It's like they wanted to do the strange little creature voice used at the beginning of ESB because it was fun and memorable, and then they tried to combine a little of the seriousness, and it seems a little bit of the Muppet voice got in there too. So Yoda sounded like a squeaking Muppet disaster in that movie. He got better in its sequels, though, but it still wasn't quite the same as the original, and I guess that is simply because of the voice aging. I really don't see why in the world you'd want him to re-record those lines, though, Adam. You make my head spin sometimes.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Yep, the voice change with age (and also depending of what you drink and smoke...) but in "Full Throttle", it's really not the "normal" voice of Mark Hamill. He's just acting a not-very-young and vicious character.
Voice also changes in acting...

Simple: To make all of the Yoda voices uniform.

On that I point, I really disagree. Too many changes have been done in the OT...
Boba's voice has been changed. In a hand, it doesn't bother me too much, cause it's good for the continuity, and that character had not many dialogues in it. On the other hand, it bothers me cause I really loved the original voice.
But concerning Yoda, this character and his OT lines are really too important to be changed. It would be unecessary, even for the continuity. Between ROTS and ESB, Yoda has been exiled for a pretty long period, he's becoming very old and is at the end of his life. So, his voice has changed with age (as said previously) and he's not any more the great jedi warrior he has been.

And we could imagine that he's not using a lot of "reversed" phrase to not troubling Luke too much. Maybe he makes a lot of effort to talk "normally" to Luke, for a good comprehension. After all, in the PT era, he's a famous character, he's very important in the council, and everybody knows his way of speaking.
So, it's just a "SW Universe" explanation... In real, it's sure that the dialogues are really not as good as the OT ones, that's all...

And plus, if they did go back to re-record the dialogue for the OT, they'd probably end up changing a bunch of the dialogue like they did with the ESB Emperor scene on the DVDs. Yeah.....I'm gonna have to pass.

But still, considering Yoda's incredible life span, he wouldn't have aged that much in those 20-some years. The two things I wish (but I know probably won't be) done to the OT Yoda is to make him completely digital like in ROTS, and have Frank Oz re-record his dialogue.

You forget that the dark side has made the jedi more weak and less focused.
And Dagobah is surely not a "holiday camp". Life must be real hard on this planet...

Digital Yoda in ESB and ROTJ... that would be terrible. Didn't we learn the lesson from Jabba in ANH? That puppet is an outstanding piece of special effects. It looks far more realistic than the CG-one. The OT deserves a break. It's the PT that needs fixing.

Is that the game, or the movie? Is there a movie? I donno. I don't pay attention to stuff like that. I'm assuming it is a PS2 game or something.

And I don't think Mark Hamill smokes (if that is what you were implying). It's just good ol' fashion aging. You can even hear it in Mel Blanc towards the end of his life in the 80's when he was voicing Bugs Bunny, Daffy, Elmer Fudd, and the whole lot.

And no more damn changes to the OT! If anything the Yoda of the PT should be fixed. The OT was first. Period. Any discrepancies and any continuity error rest squarely on the PT. If it's messed up, it's because the PT fucked up big time. The end.

Full Throttle was a Lucasarts adventure game for the PC back around 1995 or so. Just thought I'd clear that up for Jen.

Too late, he just saw my suggestion, and has written it down on his yellow paper.

I actually wouldnt be opposed to redoing a digital yoda in ESB and ROTJ, since the ROTS was so incredible. The AOTC yoda sucked, but after seeing what they did in ROTS, and seeing the puppet replacement in TPM with the digital one--it changed my mind. However, i would only approve of redoing OT Yoda on one condition--the O-OT is released to preserve the original. Because, yeah, its not THAT necessary to redo the OT Yoda, and the articulation gained is not worth losing the historically-important (and nostalgical) puppet Yoda. Really, the SW films are all completely different from when Lucas first made them so whatever he wants to do to tie them all together is fine with me, but the only way i think myself and many other fans could totally accept stuff as extreme as redoing Yoda is if the originals were also made available. I think both of these things are actually very likely to happen! Redoing his voice though? No need, really. There would inevitably be a tradeoff in performance, and besides the fact that the PT dialog is worse, the only reason Lucas would consider redoing Yoda is because he was fighting the technology and what is seen on-screen is somewhat of a compromise (in the first draft of ESB Yoda even fences with Obi Wan! Imagine trying to do that in 1980). What is HEARD on screen however is as good as can be, regardless of technology, and i think Lucas has been more than satisfied with Oz' vocals for the originals.

He'd be too old to catch me, even if he was here.

Would be a quite hilarious sight nonetheless!

Yes, it would. He and I would have a good fight. But unfortunately for him, I'm the one he'd be fighting, so he wouldn't have the slightest chance.

What if he pitted Itchy the Wookie against you? Even Chuck Norris would shit in his pants!

I would most certainly lose in that case, because he would pull my arms out of my sockets. But... Chuck Norris could still take Itchy out with one kick.
