I'm gonna call bullshit on this one. Not against you, Reg, but against the original source.

Something just doesn't sit right with that... even in light of some of the gaseous expulsions to be featured in the last few films. I just don't buy it.

(Oh, and I realize that the little play-by-play in his post was just for fun... I'm not that thick. But I still just don't buy the information.)
For as much as some people claim to hate what Star Wars has become, they sure seem incapable of shutting up about it.

I buy it entirely. I just don't think it was ever intended to stay in the film. Sounds more like editorial humour. For example, there's the story that in one of the early cuts of ESB, ILM had extended the shot of the TIE Bomber flying over the asteroid, ending with it being eaten by a sock puppet popping out of a hole.

That ILM gag sounds funny I'd like to see that included as an easter egg somewhere.

And yeah Rebel Rouser as lame as the PT films have been so far it's hard to imagine Loopy Lucas going this far down the toilet for material.

this cant be in the final cut of the film. If it is it will be the final nail in my star wars fanship coffin, well EP III will probably be that anyway, but this would strengthen the blow. I imagine it is nothing more than a gag for the production crew.

So yeah, probably just a little inside joke, not to be included in the final cut. (Lord almighty please don't let it be in the final cut... I had just learned to like Episode I for what it was... I wouldn't be able to take this.)

I've read from some local SW websites that guaranteed months ago that the scene was scripted and animated to BE in the film, but I now seriously doubt it'll be on the final cut. If it does make it to the final cut, SW will be DEAD. DEAD

No, the scene wasn't scripted. It's an editorial joke, the TIE bomber example from ESB is a good comparison.

I can see this tidbit being the "NSYNC IS IN EPISODE II" rumor for Episode III: the one thing that people are going to focus on endlessly, even after it gets debunked. I was worried about that getting out in 2001 because I was certain it'd overshadow everything else, and I was worried about the Yoda Fart getting out because I was sure it'd overshadow everything else as well.

of course, the NSYNC story was crap, and this story is just an example of a goof thrown into the assembly cut by the fx guys/editors for the hell of it. There's a long history of that kind of stuff happening in Star Wars, and a fair amount of those types of shots actually ended up on the DVD's of Episodes I and II as easter eggs.

Well if it is a joke, it's a rather pathetic one. Considering the past idiocy in the prequels, most people wouldn't put it past Lucas and Co. to throw a farting Yoda into the mix.

We have "no idea" of the power of the Dark Side.
We hit on this a little in the "Lazy Lucas" thread.

"There is 2 versions (or more) of EPISODE III filmed, one PG version."
I smell an "unrated" version being available for DVD release.

As I remember, when Sci-Fi Channel was doing their little countdown to EP1, they talked about that particular rumor some as well.

(The countdown was in the form of 2 fat SW geeks in sleeping bags and tents, waiting to get their tickets and talking about the films. They'd play these 30 second bits during commercials.)

They said that if Lucas was going to do something like that, he'd have cast Denise Richards as Amidala.

I can't help but say, I am very skeptical of a source that can't associate a plural noun with their verb. I don't believe a word of what they say...

If your remove the "graphic sex" "adult content" and "profanity" you could just show it in theaters as an R-rated movie.

It would make more money that way, and be less disturbing to fans.

I think ROTS (great acronym) is going to be disturbing to fans no matter what.

The apologists will spend YEARS telling those of us who no longer care how brilliant and symbolic it is that the great Lucasian bridge from the Prequel Trilogy to the Original Trilogy doesn't meet anywhere near each other.

Yoda farting was so well-handled in Evan Mather's "Kung Fu Kenobi's Big Adventure" that any attempt for Lucas to do this would pale in comparison. Not that I expect him to sink THIS low.

I'd love to see this again. These were the best thing to come of out of PT.
