X-MEN 3 PSYCHO REVIEW — Page 3

hmm thats interesting so it could be that all the Xmen that are currently thought to be dead could be alive. if cyclops is in a hospital someone, xavier is in that guys head, and i heard about another report where theres some noise and a hole where jeans grave is, as well as light at alkali lake.

thats oen thing thats kinda lame, it seems that this movie is mush ado about nothing. if all three of the xmen are alive still, and the cure wasnt really a cure (magneto still has some power) then whats the point of the movie; everything that happened is undone, so that it doesnt happen.

Just caught the 7:15 PM showing at my former place of employment, Regal Cinemas Hunt Valley. It was entertaining in its roller coaster ride way, but not quite as smooth or slick as the first two - and I didn't even enjoy them much, despite the fact that they are undoubtedly the GOOD ones in the franchise. Though I knew his death was coming - I even signed an on line petition not to have him killed foolishly hoping he could be saved - I was still seriously pissed that they killed Cyclops. He was always my favorite X-Men character along with Beast and Colossus, but they treated him like crap in the first two movies, and they treated him like crap here. I guess it was partly because the actor playing him James Marsden got caught up in former X-Men director Bryan Singer's misbegotten Superman Returns - which looks like crap in both promotional pictures and in the trailers.

I officially hate Wolverine/Logan now. I didn't always hate him, but I've been hating him since the first film. The way they kept screwing the other X-Men characters over in favor of Wolverine, most notably Cyclops, the God Damn FIELD LEADER of the X-Men for crying out loud, always angered me. It never felt like an ensemble piece, which is what the X-Men are supposed to be.

On the bright side, I got to see Beast, that was cool. And there was more Colossus, which was cool even though he didn't get a lot of screen time. Plus Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde; the best part of the movie was watching her run around in the leather jumpsuit (she was born in 1987 so she is in fact legal). No wait, that was the 2nd best part. Seeing Mystique/Raven Darkholme lying naked on the ground after being "cured" of her mutancy was the best part of the film, and the only reason I'll buy the DVD.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Well, I thought the movie was still good even with the way they treated Cyclops, but still.

And, for the record, I shall now say what the scene after the credits is:

Snape kills Mystique.... Yes, sad but true.

No, really.

SPOILER ALERT

The man without a concscious mind that the Proffesor was talking about earlier is seen lying in the hospital. A nurse comes in to take care of him and he begins speaking in Xavier's voice. The nurse says "Charles" and then it fades to black.

SPOILERS

That's no nurse. That's Moira MacTaggart! From Muir Island.

And I was very disappointed with the movie. I felt Prof. X was out of character. Getting upset with Logan and then blaming him? For what?! Didn't like that. Upsetting that they killed of Cyclops. Would've been much more dramatic if in the "final battle" with Phoenix, Cyclops destroyed her along with himself. But its true, the movie was about Allverine and Storm. Sheesh, you'd think they'd work on an accent with her.

Speaking of accents, no accent on Colossus. He's supposed to be Russian! And isn't he supposed to have a thing with Kitty? Gah!

I think the thing with Kitty & Iceman was based on some Ultimate Marvel thing. Yes, all that stuff between Jean & Logan should have been between her and Cyclops, who has always been her one true love in the comics. I agree it would have been better if it had been him at the end destroying her along with himself, that would have rung more true for both characters.

SPOILER below -

I was thinking about the scene where Mystique was "cured", taking the cure dart for Magneto, and she collapses on the floor as the stuff turns her into a normal, powerless human. The look on her face as it was happening, the expressions of pain, shame, violation, humiliation, and finally loss, as she realizes that she has lost what made her who she was and has become what she always hated, and yet she does not belong anywhere now, and the look of betrayal on her face as Magneto abandons her there, frail, helpless, naked... I wonder if this is meant to make Mystique a symbolic rape victim, as if she were a virgin who lost her "innocence" against her will so to speak. What do you all think?

I think that is reading WAY too much into things.

I agree, but that whole seen was a very sad and powerful moment. The look on her face makes you just want to slug Magneto.

AND proved that Rebecca Romijin Stamos, another model turned actress, can actually ACT... something that poor Halle Berry I fear will never be able to do. ACTING is not just (awkwardly) reading the words from the script... its the way one holds one body, the way one lifts an eyebrow, the way one's lower lip reacts to the situation.

Oh and... saw the film. Mediocre as best, held together by mostly decent production design and a cast of at least several actors who brought dignity to horrid dialogue and plot.

Considering the only movie I've ever seen Halle Berry in is The Flintstones, I'm not really the authority on this, but didn't she win Best Actress once?

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Yeah. He could have at least given her his cape or offered her a ride to the next state.

Still doesn't mean she can act. I have only really seen her in the x-men movies and in James Bond, but that is plenty for me to see she can't act. However, acting ability no longer matters in our society, she looks hot so she gets roles.

Wait, that's right. I saw her in Die Another Day too. Heh, I guess it was rather forgettable.

She didn't do a lot of talking in the first one so I didn't mind her, in the second one she sucked, in the third one she wouldn't shut up and they gave her a lot of a bigger role. Out of all the X-men they killed off in the Last Stand, Storm would have been the one I would have merely said "Well, Darn" and then enjoyed the movie even more.

It's a damn shame, because Storm is an important character in the X-Men universe and deserves more than just playing second fiddle to Wolverine. Of course, Cyclops also deserved better.

Yeah, seriously.

It's pretty sad when your movies make Bobby Drake look better than Cyclops. Nothing against Bobby, but Cyclops was supposed to be the friggin' leader.

And was I the only one who had HOPED that, because they could for the FIRST time in an X-film, there would be at least ONE shot in which all the ORIGINAL X-Men were on screen at the same time?!?!? That would have been a sweet nod to comics fans- to have Jean, Cyclops, Iceman, Beast and Angel all up there in the same scene.

Sigh.

Yeah, that would have been sweet. Maybe we should hold out hope for an X-Men Begins type film in the future showing the original 1960s X-Men in all their glory... but that probably won't happen.

Did it ever bother anyone that the movies made Bobby "Iceman" Drake a teen while Cyclops, Jean, Beast and even Angel were full blown adults (although they looked like they were trying to make Angel a "young" adult)?

How many people here disliked the film version of Rogue, please raise your hands.

Any casting ideas for Mister Sinister? The only two actors who come to mind when I think of who could play Sinister are Christopher Lee & Frank Langella. How about you guys?

If Mister Sinister were to be done in a live action film, how much money would you bet that the filmmakers would change things to make Sinister obsessed with Wolverine instead of having Sinister be obsessed with Cyclops?
