Would KoToR work as a movie?

Author
Time
If there were to be feature-length SW projects, not nesicarily directed by Lucas or even released theatrically, after Episode III...
Then do you all think KoToR would work in movie form?

Though there are some great cinematic elements and a killer plot twist, I'm not sure you can translate a quest for four maps into an entertaining film without some major plot changes. Besides, part of KoToR's charm lies in the ability to customized everything and make good vs evil choices, which would be absent in a movie.

Hell yea, that's the ONLY SW game that would work as a film.

I can't imagine Kyle Katarn as a real character, it's so shalow, or any of those
characters. But KOTOR is full of realistic characters.

Well the story can be a bit chessy here and there, but the ship, and the characters
could be a great basis for some adventures on film. And it's a great time to explore
4000 years is a lot of time.

I think you both said the key reason why it might not work:
Choices.

However, its not stopped tons of people (on Bioware forums) from giving ideas for who would act in the film. The one that always comes up:
Ron Perlman as Canderous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he black...

And Canderous sort of... isn't. Though I agree he'd be great for the part otherwise.

Ron Perlman is the guy who played Hellboy and the Beast in one of the versions of The Beauty and the Beast, but hes not black.

*Spoiler*

I was surprised to see Canderous make a comeback in KOTOR II as Mandalore, weren't you?

Really?

If he's not black, then that IMDB photo really sucks... Oh... I thought that was Mandalore... then again, I also thought Mandalore was dead by KoTOR... And it sounds like Canderous...

*spoiler*

I haven't gotten that far along in the Mandalore quest, but I did see him talk to Kreia in one of the cutscenes and he mentioned something along the lines of "Through me, clan Ordo still lives..." And since Canderous Ordo mentioned he was the last of his clan in KOTOR, I put 2 and 2 together.

Now THIS is an interesting project!

Something all of us here can appreciate I'm sure. The one downfall however would be main character never moving his lips.

Maybe not KotOR, but Shadows of the Empire might make a good movie. Although the movie would probably not start at the same time as the N64 game. The beginning of part 2 of the game, would be the beginning of the movie.

Ah well *fires up Project64*

you do realize the game is based off a book that takes place between Empire and Jedi
Why Anakin really turned to the dark side:
"Anakin, You're father I am" - Yoda
"No. No. That's not true! That's impossible!" - Anakin

Actually, there was a group that was making SotE movie using toy figures. However, that movie and website have gone away. I believe I do have the clips somewhere if anyone's interested.

But Shadows of the Empire was such a half assed project, Imagine a bad guy whose main power is that he smells good?

SOTE wasn't all that half-assed.

I think that is the wrong descryptor... Maybe poorly planned.

How could you say that of a simultaneous video-game and novel release? If anything, it's is double rather than half... And Prince Xizor's power is his sent? OMKF!!!

That little detail went mercifully unmentioned in the game.

I never read the book, but most of the graphic novel. He was able to woo Leia with his sexy scent. Don't ask me. It was his race or something.

The scent thing bascially made sence though, that he used it to secure business deals and stuff. Imagine in Don Vito Corleone had had crazy mind control pheromones... Would have made the Godfather a shitty story though. In the book it could have worked though, because it has a part which focuses on his rise to power and whatnot.

Creatures that use pheromones to lure mates are everywhere in the animal kingdom, from ants to reptiles. It isn't as far-fetched a concept as, say, a planet-sized battle station.

Which is why they only made the DeathStar the size of a small moon.
