Wookie, I’ve been reading through some Threads and I have seen you say more then once no one was interested in your work. Well, you couldn’t be more wrong. Your stuff has been posted on the HD Torrent Sites and are a must. I have all except Episode II. For some reason every copy I download whether it be from NGs or Torrent, half way through the movie the file is corrupted. Any ideas? Well, just wanted to take this chance to say thank you. I have a HD display and a 360 and these are wonderful. Can’t wait to get a working copy of Episode II.

re: Episode II - The users on the newsgroups have resolved this. Here is the basic text from the groups:

For those also having problems - just to let you know I worked out how to fix
it - I used Windows Media Stream Editor to demux the audio and video and
remux them back into one file - plays flawlessly on the pc and the x360 -
can only imagine the header information got corrupted

It's a utility included with Windows Media Encoder:

You're a lifesaver Wookie. Thanks alot for this. I had all these recorded off Cinemax HD, but like you said, the american broadcasts were utter garbage. These are the real deal. Thanks again!


EDIT: PS, just got your "Addicted to Star Wars" I love it. You Sir are the man! Any chance for a Label and Cover?

Any plans for x264 releases? I don't have a Xbox 360, so the WMV/VC-1 releases are useless to me. I will not use Microsoft proprietary garbage.

Why can't people just download something and convert it themselves? You go through all the trouble of uploading something in the first place and all you get are request for this version or that version There's a shit pot full of tutorials on the internet to convert any format to another!

True, but holding a grudge against a digital format that can provide great happiness is even more disturbing than the sheer laziness and selfishness I see on the net. With all the fanatics on here you would think the first principle philosophy would be applied " You must unlearn, what you have learned..."

Why would I re-encode something that is already re-encoded? If I'm going to re-encode something, it's going to be from the highest quality source I can get, not something that already had it's quality trashed.

Better start learnin' how to use AviSynth, etc., then. 'Cause I'm with WG: if a 13GB WMV-HD version carefully put together from the very best 1080p broadcasts out there isn't good enough for you, you're not going to find a lot of people clamoring to do any better just for you.

(BTW, it's "its quality", not "it's quality".)

I also have x264 versions of these. But only way to play on my TV is WMVHD through my 360. With that, thanks again Wookie!

Wookieegroomer, again thanks for these releases, I love them, they look great on my tv, I have being trying to burn them to DL Discs, but have only had one successful burn. I have a Pioneer 108 flashed to Piodata 108DX, I have never had any problems burning DVD5s, but this was the first time I used it for DVD9s, I used nero and I got through the burning just fine, but when nero verifies the information it comes up with errors, all except one of the burns which was successful, when I tried to play the videos from the discs that didn't verify correctly, most of it is fine except the stuff that was burned on the second layer, the video freezes on some parts. I'm using RIDATA media 8x, but nero only lets me burn it at 2.4x. I tried making an image and the burn it with DVD Decrypter but it also failed the verification. It is getting extremely frustrating. Do you have any suggestions? Again thanks for these.
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Aside from an actual pile of steaming poo, Ridata is crap. Splurge a little and get Verbaim DVD+R DL media, burn in the UDF format at 2.4x and it should flawlessly. Also,be sure to have the latest Nero. Memorex media also works well, I have been using that lately with great success even on the 360. Also, I've used Ridata in the past and getting to verify properly is almost impossible because it's only compatible with a few DVD burners. Most burners require special firmwares just for Ridata. I suggest either NEC or Lite-on. Not the most popular but after going through nearly 20 DVD burners over the past 5 years I think I know a thing or two about burners and those brands have the widest compatibility with media.

Thanks wookiegroomer, I mostly bought these because they were inkjet printable and I wanted to create a cool cover for them, I didn't know I would run into so many problems, yeah I was using UDF as it is the only way to burn files bigger than 2GB I think, I have the latest version of Nero, I guess it is the media, I will look for Verbatim since you are not the first one that recommends them, I guess that says alot. Again thank for your help and for the releases, you rock.

I didn't even realize HD versions of these movies were broadcast. I'm actually surprised Lucas allowed it.

I'm working on a very accurate crawl and I would be indebted to anyone who would send me a (preferably lossless) 1080p screenshot of the star wars logo from the beginning of any of the films:

If you want your crawl to be "very accurate" then perhaps you should specify which film.

I think Muffin's point was that the h264 version should be encoded from the master (whatever format Wookie Groomer has it in) instead. Also, VC-1 isn't any more proprietary than h.264. Microsoft submitted it to the SMPTE for standardization. Libavcodec implements a working open source decoder. Furthermore, VC-1 quality is comparable to h264 and VC-1 is faster to decode, so very little would be gained by (re-)encoding to h264.

Of course. But it's equally clear that WG has no intention of making h264 from what he's got, so if that's what Muffin wants, he's going to have to get cracking on doing it himself. All the same sources that WG used are available; only thing missing is "just" the grunt work of lining them up and editing them together.

I am struggling too.......

Whenever I try to open the file in Windows Media Stream Editor, all I get is incorrect codec on system errors.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you guys can't get it working with the known methods others are having success with I can't do anything for you. The best I can do without someone stepping up and posting their fixed version is to post my 12GB edition. My Clones works fine and If you play it on the 360 without screwing around with it, it should play through without issue. If you jump ahead or step forward it with will crap out- that much I can confirm.

I just ran through this process myself and it took all of eight minutes on my old crappy P4. Be sure to have the latest versions of Media Encoder available. I would have reposted my corrected version but it's so fast and easy to do this fix I can't imagine why anyone can not do it for themselves. I would rather invest the time upping the 12GB versions instead.

Thanks for all the advice on fixing this which I agree should be very simple.............

However, I keep getting the following error - The requested video codec is not installed on this system
