I am having some issue with this. I cannot seem to get a VHS picture in Vdub for capture.
I am using my WinFast TV2000 XP Expert capture card.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone assist?

It's tough to offer any advice when you don't specifically say what you've tried or what's happening.
If you aren't already, use the 32-bit version.
I'm trying to use VDub64 in Windows 7 64Bit. My capture card seems fine and I've got my S-VHS machine using the S-Video for transferring. When I go in to capture mode to work, all I get is a blank blue screen, I cannot see any video.
Maybe the VideoHelp forum would be better suited for this question.
Thanks drngr.
Recently I acquired another capture card - the Sweetspot (a.k.a. PDI Deluxe) - and I had A LOT of problems to make it work properly...
At the end, I used DScaler; after I was able to watch the image (tweaking with all the video settings) I closed it, opened VDub and finally it worked!
Try to do this test, and if it doesn't work I must add that I tried VDub with Windows 7 too (32 bit) and it didn't work at all, so maybe it's just a compatibility issue... I stick with ye olde Windows XP as it works with every software I need for restoration purposes.
Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

Use the 32-bit VirtualDub (which is what I meant before). And make sure you're on the correct input of course. A blue screen is better than a black screen or no screen...

In what way? If its not producing video output then how can you tell?

My experience with older capture cards suggests to me that you may have a driver problem. What is the source of your drivers?
If you have any setup applications that come with the driver, have a look and ensure that you have everything set correctly and that it is set to the correct input if your card has both composite and s-video. Depending on your card, going to VirtualDub in capture mode and clicking 'Video>Capture filter' can give you some options.
I have used both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of VirtualDub in the past and for capturing I had no problems with either, provided you have set the correct resolution and frame rate within the settings. For actually using VirtualDub for processing video though, I stuck with the 32-bit version because its just so much easier for compatibility with AviSynth and plugins.
