Will the original 'Star Wars' ever be properly presented on DVD?

Well, at least it's in the news. How well know is this publication?

Its exactly as I have been saying for the past year- The GOUT is the very last we will ever see of the OOT, all our work is dead, and the SE will be the only SW version for decades while the OOT rots to be lost forever-except in our memories. Lucas will keep this situation as the way things are until the day he dies. We might as well move on and just accept the worst DVD transfer in the history of humankind as the only way to see the true OT as fans have appreciated for 30 years, or just move on to star trek. We never expected this misery back in the 70s, 80s, and most of the 90s. And all of you put empty hopes in celebration IV and the 30th anniversary and next generation formats to get out of this hellhole. The OOT will get a proper presentation when the equator freezes over.

Wow... that was a pointless article... pose the question to the reader... then never answer the question. Brilliant! Slow news day, guess the Star Tribune needed some filler this week.

I'm a little more optimistic for the simple fact that we DID see the OUT on DVD. The poor transfer issues aside, it WAS on DVD when many said it will never, ever happen (including Lucas). Now will we ever see a proper version on DVD? Eh, that I doubt and I think it will be on the next format...even still, the point is we will see it again. Lucas has proven time and time again that money talks, and I feel that the OUT will be no exception...

Oh, BTW, when are you finishing the x0 project? I have been trying to contact your mailing list, but it fails.

Good to see someone in the media somewhere is telling it like it is. Keep the fires of discontent burning!

Ya know, for a film franchise Lucas kind of resented being famous for, he sure makes a big deal out of not taking people's money for it.

Outside of X0, what are you talking about? I just can't see enough demand to get Lucas to care.

Were it not for the fact that most people don't know what anamorphic video is, there would definitely be a demand.

That's all the publicity it needs. TFN still has plenty of readers. The more that read that article, the more will realize that it was a shoddy release. Perhaps somewhere down the line it'll get a proper release.

Wahtever you guys say, it will be hopeless. The "dark side" will always keep the OOT down.

Well, I'm glad it got some press, but I agree with the earlier statement that it was something of a pointless article and just came out of nowhere. Plus, that part about Yoda being less "puppety"? That's, like, the one thing he hasn't changed. For right now, my GOUTs are satisfying my need for Star Wars, and I suspect they will as long as I have a standard defintion 4:3 TV. It's just the future that worries me because they do look pretty bad on my computer screen by comparison.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Well said. And by the same token, we know LFL loves to make money, as evidenced by the ad nauseum re-releases of the trilogy in whatever form, so I would never say the situation is beyond hope.

the OOT is alive and kicking and probably always will be with the likes of Editdroid, Moth3r and hopefully eventually the X0 project. Don't be too negative, who needs another LFL version anyway they'd probably f*ck that up as well.
