The last season of Enterprise was quite good, IMO. The mini-story arcs, written by people who actually understood the franchise and helmed by Manny Coto, were top-notch. I especially liked the one with Brent Spiner as a young Doctor Soong and the beginnings of the Eugenics Wars. Voyager was an abomination.
The existing canon should stop at the end of DS9. Voyager and Enterprise canon (except season 4) should be tossed out the window. Lord knows how this new movie's going to go down, though it's safe to say that in their attempt to reach a mass audience it will not be a hardcore fan pleasing film.
I grew up watching the original series on reruns, but TNG was the ST I really enjoyed as a kid, and I still enjoy it very much today, much more then TOS. So we are obviously coming from two different places.
Also to me, while Voyager sucked a good deal, it really had some great moments buried in there, especially in the middle seasons. And while DS9 is pretty much worshiped by Trekkies, I have been working my way through it from start till finish, I am only on the third season at this point, but my goodness, it has plenty of crappiness fit to rival Voyager.
As for Enterprise season four, that was quite funny actually. All along they had been saying, 'eventually we will do this and that, and we would really like to find some way to do that or this...' then the thing got canceled and they realized that season four was the end, so they cut to the chase and started doing all those things they said they always wanted to do. That is why we got the Gorn, the mirror universe, Orion slave girls, Dr. Soong, and Klingon foreheads all in the same season.
I must admit, I did enjoy some bits from season four of Ent., the Klingon forehead thing was unforgivable, typically fanboy sounding lame explanation for why TOS Klingons looked like Earthlings.
