iirc, in the New New Canon EU, Han discovered the Farce while trying to smuggle ‘spice’ from an ancient cave. He came across a crystal skull. When he touched it, nothing happened. However, everything changed when Luke was revealed in the shadows and gave a monologue to Han about the Farce. Suddenly, Hand knew it all!
