Bingowings,

It's not just about this thread at all. It is a general behaviour of this particular individual.

If you have a complaint take it to a moderator and if you aren't happy with their decision figure out if the site the right place for you.

You should be careful about calling people names outside the safety of the off topic zone. It could place you in a position where you don't have those options.

To TV's Frink, Lay off. I don't get why you just come onto my threads to annoy me and say disrespectful things but either way it is disrespectful and insulting. I would appreciate you not to post on my threads and if you do, be civil.

TV's Frink is a kind of clown of this forum. I estimate that more than half of his posts are off-topic, most of those disrespectful and even offensive. I think even mods just accepted his status as a forum clown since they haven't done anything about his behaviour.

So don't get too upset about him.

That gives me a good 15,000 on-topic posts.  Pretty good if you ask me.

But I agree with your last sentence.

Indeed, I won't rest until you add a big red nose to your avatar Frinky.  ;)

Woah.  This whole time I thought ImperialFighter and imperialscum were the same person.

Nope. I did wonder if anyone would mistakenly think that when imperialscum joined, but we're very different just so you know.  TV's Frink is one of my favourite things around these parts, for one. ;)

Yeah, I was a bit confused.  :P

Or mine. Their personalities are very distinct.

For the record, I find Revisited to be completely unwatchable, for all the reasons the OP mentioned.

Also the fact that it uses the '04 sound mix, making it completely unlistenable as well.

I don't think many people would begrudge you your opinion.

Making a thread about it, however...

Also a lot of the music cues have been tampered with, and I find it slightly hypocritical that you guys do nothing but complain about the official SE when Adywan has done pretty much the same thing and you welcome that with open arms.

Minus the mistakes, I like the original unaltered Star Wars as it is and I don't like anyone tampering with it fan or George Lucas.

I would hope you don't agree with the underlined.

Like an audio track for a film can't be improved upon from 1980 or 2004?

we are in 2014... Newer sound mixes of films leave the original star wars films and even the special edition standing in the shade.

It would never win an academy award compared to standards today.

Although it's personal preference again to dispute something that is over 30 years old being inferior to more up to date sound mixes and what can be achieved.

I personally agree that the original mixes are better than the SE but they both can also be improved upon too without doubt in my opinion not only in terms of sound quality but also in terms of being better edited. I did not like the prequal music in revisited but apart from that I did not think it sounded bad.

Ady has already made admissions that he intends to revert these changes on his next time he does this film. but he did do another version for this instance already.

Hmm, by my observations, most of today's sound mixes are overcompressed and sometimes below even CD standards.  And editing seems a lost art.  Just because the tools are better doesn't mean that today's editing is better.  In contrast to what you have said above, I have yet to hear a "newer" sound mix of the original Star Wars films that measures up to the original stereo and 6-channel surround mixes from 1977.

I personally agree that the original mixes are better than the SE but they both can also be improved upon too without doubt in my opinion not only in terms of sound quality but also in terms of being better edited.

As for editing, it's hard to imagine improving on the artful editing of classic movies like "Gone with the Wind", or sonic movie masterpieces like Bernard Hermann's "Vertigo" or Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Sound of Music", regardless of the tools available. I shudder to think of how those movies would have turned out if they had been made today.  I'd put Star Wars in that same category, and clearly the AFI does also.

If I hate an edit I delete it. No need to rave on about it. If anyone thinks they can do a better job of an edit they can always do their own. Simple really.
