I'm not sure which one I'd rather bite the dust:
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them during the long winter evenings."

wow alot of these covers make superman appear to be a real a--hole.

kinda like in Superman III and the kryptonite that turned him evil
Why Anakin really turned to the dark side:
"Anakin, You're father I am" - Yoda
"No. No. That's not true! That's impossible!" - Anakin

Well, it was the 1950s and these really weren't the flagship titles for DC.

But still, why make their hero out to be a total prick.

"I'm sorry Jimmy, but one of you is gonna die! And I'm SMILING!"

I dunno, I hope the comics themselves aren't like that, you really can't judge a golden-age comic by its cover.

If that's gold age, I don't want to know what a silver age comic book cover might be. Perhaps:

"LOIS LANE, SUPERMAN AND JIMMY IN A MENAGE A TROIS!"

"SUPERMAN GOES TO VIETNAN!"

"LOIS LANE IS NOW LARRY LANE!"
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I think the Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen books died out by then, so we have no worries

That, Ric would have to be rusted, brittle tin age of comics.

I think the silver age was the age in which the Superheroes fought commie-ism.

Pretty much, but it wasn't as blatent as it was when he was fighting the Axis in WWII.

That's too bad.

PC has made it so that if you made Superman fighting terrorists, it would be considered anti-Arab hate speach.

You haven't read the current Azzerello - Lee run, have you?

I forget sometimes that I'm not on a comic messageboard (z-cult is my fav) and no one knows what I'm talking about.

I'm not really into superhero comics.

Most of what I know about them comes from the cartoons.

Well, I didn't mean just Superhero comics, I mean like comic knowledge in general.

Hey I own the original compilation of the "death of superman", the first appearence of gambit, spawn #1... I used to buy comics back in the early 90s, I wonder how much that's worth now.

The death of superman really isn't worth all that much, I found a few issues of that run in the dollar bin.

In the JL continuity, they changed it so that Superman got sent to the future rather than dying.
