I am in need of a whoosh sound effect. Kinda like the one on LOST when they went backwards and forwards in time.
I'm having a hard time locating it. Anyone know where I could go?

Have you tried finding the sound of something like an ocean wave, then using a editing program to manipulate and change that sound to become more of what you are looking for? That might work.

Next time I get into the audio suite at school, I'll search through the various libraries really quickly and see if I can find what you're looking for.
Don't know when this will be, though.
Thanks everyone. Just noticed there were replies. I'll try that Fan.. And thanks ChainsawAsh... No rush, just whenever you can try. =)
You could try making an incremental pitch shift to a variety of noises (television static is a good one) and then play with the speed and direction to get the right hit.
Adding in natural whooshing noises like shoreline wave pulls and crashes could have an interesting effect too.
With a whoosh you are describing the motion of a standing sound.
If you can isolate the sort of standing sound you have in you mind's ear and apply pitch and directional shifts to it you might get the effect you are after.
Yes, as Bingo said there are countless ways in which one can create new sounds! I'm not familiar with the particular sound you want to recreate, but here's another idea: if you have a good enough microphone, brush its head slowly against your shirt, and record that, and then apply a flanger effect to it.

Some thoughts have a certain sound, thought being equivalent to a form. Through sound and motion, you will be able to paralyze nerves, shatter bones, set fires, suffocate an enemy or burst his organs...so please read the Health and Safety leaflet.
