Im a big fan of both George A Romero & George Lucas every Halloween i do a Dead Movie Marathon from Night Of The Living Dead to Land Of The Dead. Romero & Lucas both had an impact in film history but who is the better director? I think some one should make a forum site on George A Romero because his movies are just so damn scary.

They are so different that theres not much comparison. And both have lost a lot of their talent in their old age. At their peak i would say they are about on par, but nowadays i suppose Romero is a better director--i still think Bruiser and Land of the Dead were lousy but he directed them better than Lucas directed any of his prequels. I'm working on Diary of the Dead, which is shooting in Toronto right now, and the script so far is equally hit and miss...

Diary of the Dead sounds pretty cool ill have to check it out when you get it completed. Everyone has there own opinoins and i saw Land Of The Dead at the theaters and i thought it was the best out of them all. I cant wait until the Night Of The Living Dead 3D movie comes out November 10th! There also remaking Day Of The Dead and its suppost to be coming out some time in 2007. The remakes of Romeros films seem to be better than the original just take a look at the Night Of The Living Dead 1990 Remake it was in color and it was so much better than the original.

I thought Bruiser and LOTD were both pretty strong, but Bruiser moreso.

Romero has always been a better director. The dude understands character way more than Lucas ever could.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Romero....hands down.

Romero put some intelligence into those movies. They actually "say" something. Most horror movies are mindless and just wants to scare you. That's fine and all. Got no problem with that at all, but I like that he put something deep in there.

Lucas is a great storyteller, but not a great filmmaker. He gets by, I think. ESB was so good cuz other people who were better filmmakers were making it. He just directed the whole thing from a story point of view....that's his strength....managing everything behind the scenes.

Romero writes and directs his stuff. He also takes suggestions from his cast and crew. He's very open minded. That line in Day Of The Dead spoken by Rhodes as he's getting eaten by the zombies...the actor came up with that, not Romero.

Lucas doesn't work like that....he's said so himself, "It's all in the script." That points to a bit of a control freak with an ego.

Going off of what we just learned in my Infectious Diseases class, I'd have to say yeast infection by far. So, if Romero is Candida albicans, and Lucas is Neisseria gonorrhea, then I suppose Romero would be better. I apologize for my rambling incoherence, since med school has quite obviously killed my brain.

I agree with eros actually...I've seen all the remakes though and ultimately prefer the originals. The remakes are action flicks for the most part and they truly blow. I can't understand why anyone would prefer them, but whatever.

I don't see the points of remakes anyway. The originals are all classics. Dawn Of the Dead 2004 was fucking insulting. It took all the intelligence out of Romero's original idea and warped it into this stupid horror action flick that was above all, boring.

I think Gaylen Ross (Fran in the original Dawn) summed up the new Dawn quite nicely in the old Dawn's commentary...."What's with their zombies running all over.....how is that scary?"

Beautiful.

But whatever....like what you like and rock on...

I have to agree, the original three "Dead" films Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead are classics of the horror genre, and I was dissapointed by Land of Dead and the remakes of Night and Dawn, I just found them unnecessary remakes of classic films that didnt need remaking and nothing spectacular in their execution and Land a dissapointing addition to a great trilogy which didnt need a fourth film.

As for the question I would say George A Romero is a better director than George Lucas.

Can you ever go wrong saying Peter Jackson?

Say ADigitalMan, I don't suppose you know where a guy can find an illegal fan edited extended edition of The Terminator by any chance?

I personally don't distribute them, but I'm pretty sure that if you check you check below the diaphragm and to the left of the stomach you'll find it there.
