Sorry for my outburst, by the way.
Don't be, it was completely justified.
No need to fan the flames of a dispute that's been settled.
A dispute that was settled......on the internet?!

Agreed. So stop posting the same thing over and over and over, and the dispute will be settled.

Lower case start to the sentence, missing period at the end, and a complete lack of understanding what the problem is.

The only problem I see at this point is that you enjoy flaming people. You changed the topic in order to avoid the truth.
What truth? The truth that you hate the Sith in the Prequels, which is fine, or the truth that you won't shut up about it?
I still think that an ideal villain is Leia. In a way, it's a chance for the idea of the prequels to be redeemed... that is, unlike PT Anakin, we actually LIKE Leia. For her to turn to the dark side would be tragic. Also, I can see her made up like the Emperor, shrieking maniacally - would be scarier than the Emperor, actually. The sibling square-off could be interesting, too.

The Plagueis theory is the new "Palpatine is a clone of Sidious".
I wish I had had regular Internet access back when the "Palpatine is a clone of Sidious" thing was making the rounds; it would have be amusing to read what was bound to be blatant hoop-jumping rationalizations (being a fan of the PT at the time, though, I might have bought into it).

The most common rationalization was that the Jedi don't sense anything when they meet with Palpatine. Other rationalizations included Palpatine having blue eyes and starwars.com giving different heights.
We've discussed who the head villain will be, but there's also the issue of who/what the army will be. In the prequels we have Trade Federation/Separatist battle droids and (after Order 66) the Republic clone army and in the OOT we have Stormtroopers. What will we have in the ST?

Leia is the best choice for a villain. Force empowered, part of the Skywalker lineage and played by a capable actress. As one of the good guys Leia would now be dull. She would be little more than a Mon Mothma clone. But as a villain she could be as powerful and as potent a character as she was in the OT and prove that not all Star Wars villains are old men, cyborgs or baldies (think Jean Marsh in Willow) but yes shrieking would be too much like ROTS Palpatine after the mask came on.

And that's what she should be. A little more than a cameo role.
真実
Yes I'm hoping against hope that the OT characters are minor players in a new exciting story with new characters.
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
The sequel makers are going to want evil force using, red lightsaber weilding bad guys ASAP. So I suspect we're going to see yet more secret Sith masters who were hiding out reveal themselves. Not some new overwhelming force from beyond the galaxy which would make more sense.
Sounds very prequel-ish, but I imagine that's how these movies will go. The Empire is defeated. A slow Phantom Menace mystery may be all they can turn to.
We'll see.

I don't mind the idea of Leia as a villain. It's the idea of seeing her in Palpatinesque makeup that scares the bejeezus out of me.
The idea of Leia as a villain is just too silly for me to take seriously. So I'll say no to that one.
I'm hoping the villain isn't a Sith. I posted my thoughts on this a long time ago, though I don't think it was in this thread. Assuming there's a Jedi Academy, I'd like the villain to be a rogue Jedi of sorts who teams up with some other bad dude and they do only vaguely bad things. Let's have some shades of gray (not fifty though).
I could see Leia being tempted by the dark side, but hopefully Luke has taught her a thing or two about those forks in the road.

I feel like Luke's era of Jedi is (or should be, from everything seen in ESB and ROTJ) a lot more "gray". I think that his triumph was showing stuffy old Ben and Yoda that they were wrong about what being a Jedi was all about and how the Force worked, and I'd be really surprised (and very grumpy) to see Luke being a stuffy monk like the PT Jedi.
Of course, Luke's teaching style might be a little too liberal, which perhaps leads one of his pupils to step just a little too far across the line...

^My thoughts exactly.
Nightsisters and Mandalorian Warriors.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher
