Who is interested in an OT.com Fantasy Baseball League? — Page 2

Just so you know, it would MUCH easier if people went to this link:

http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/createjoin?.scrumb=

The one you provide just gives an error cuz it's thinking the person is in the league already.

People can click on that link above, hit the "Join League" button, then submit their info, including the password (ask Frinky) and the League ID Number, which is 274328.

Might wanna update the first post. ;)

P.S. I say definitely invite FE peeps as well! The more the merrier! The league is so deep that even with a lot of teams, we'll all still have tons of great talent on our teams.

We'll see - I think 10-12 is the optimal league size, especially with some people who've never played before.  Any more people, and you really have to know your stuff.  We've still got plenty of time, so I'll probably put the invite out on FE at some point.

When is the draft? Because I have already called David Eckstein in this thread, and you guys would be a bunch of poopy-heads if you went ahead and drafted him anyway.

Welcome VFP.

We'll be discussing things like the draft as we get a little closer to opening day and we have our league filled out.

In my other league, the commish had the draft date set 45 days before the season opener. Haha. It'll probably change half a dozen times.

Sunday night (around 8 or 9-ish EST) usually seems to be a good time where most people are home and able to do the draft. If they can't, it'll auto-draft, but it's more fun to pick yourself.

someone is going to have to help me out here.   I've never been in a fantasy league.   How does this drafting thing work?  Can I get all the Phillies' players?

When the time comes, there will be a box that opens for the draft. It'll show all of us in one column, the players available to pick in another column, etc... When it's your turn to make a pick, you just click on the player, then hit the "draft" button or something. It's really simple, as is the whole game. Very intuitive.

You should be able to do a "mock" draft if you want to practice, as well. Just have a look around the site and you should find it somewhere/sometime. Sorry I can't be more specific, but trust me, people catch on very quickly with the Yahoo games.

I havent read the rules yet but i played in a fantasy football league the last four years , is there much difference ?.

Same concept as far as drafting players.  Fantasy football is usually head to head (you play a different team each week) whereas in Rotisserie baseball we all accumulate statistics throughout the year.

Here's the link to the rules:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/sports/fantasysports/baseball/rules/

And the link to our specific league settings:

http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/274328/settings

I can change the settings before we get started, so we can talk about proposed changes anyone would like to consider.  I have autopick draft set for the moment (so I didn't have to choose a draft date) but we'll probably switch to a live draft - more fun!

I would join, but I have 0 interest in baseball, and I played fantasy football once, where I never logged in after the draft.  I think I'd be a bit better at football since I understand it a bit more and know some of the players...

I remember Frank Thomas. I had a few of his cards.  He was my random "favorite player" back when I collected baseball cards.  Does he still play? ;-)

But seriously, if you need another body to beat the living crap out of, I can try it.

OH, and one time we did one of those college basketball finals tree things, and I won the award for not getting a single one right!

Actually he just officially retired this month, believe it or not.  But he sat out all last year and played very little the few years prior.

Thanks for the offer oh-oh-5.  I'll keep you in mind if we end up short on road kill ;-)

Updated OP, mostly to make fun of xhonzi and EyeShotFirst.

I keep hoping CP3S or Ferris will show up and say "hell no" just so I can add them to the OP.

Wow, I was totally joking about Frank Thomas.  Man, you can play baseball forever!
