Oh man, sorry.  Didn't realize this had become a thing.  I wasn't trying to make it a thing, so I didn't bring it up.  Probably best to explain it now to keep it from being a big deal.

It comes down to two things.

1. Obnoxious picture in signature.  (same as Angel)

2. Call me an agist, but I can't stand a kid a few years older than my son cursing like a sailor.  I'm also not terribly interested in reading his comments on movies I would be horrified to find my own son watching at that age.

Sorry- not trying to be a jerk about it.  Just trying to enjoy my ot.com.  I wasn't trying to make a statement to Mr. Stardust.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

#1 I get.

#2 I'm a bit baffled on.  And this from someone who fully supports your decision to try and raise your kids in a PT-free environment.

I typed up a few things on what your motivation might be, but decided to instead just let you explain (should you feel like it).

I'll hang up and listen to your answer.

I was not trying to actually be a punk and understand your reasoning.  Makes sense to me.  But I think Zig is a nice fellow so I've never gone that far.

Yeah, I'm really not trying to dig on Ziggy here.  So I think I'll just leave what I said as enough said.  I really am just trying to enjoy OT.com.

You know what?  I'm sorry I brought up number 2.  #1 would really have been sufficient on its own and was the real reason I put several people on ignore.

I'd be happy to edit it out, as long as those who quoted me did likewise.

I'm glad you finally explained your reasons, xhonzi. When I first saw you were ignoring me, it was driving me crazy why! Did he actually ignore people who haven't played Fallout 3? ;-)

I can see where you're coming from on number two, but the thing with the movies I watch really depend on maturity level and whether or not you think your children can handle it. My mom trusts me fairly well, so it's okay with her with what I watch, as long as it's not bordering on pornographic. So I have to disagree with you there. Besides, couldn't you just scroll down my movie posts if you don't like them? This is another reason why I regret mentioning my age, even though it was probably inevitable.

The swearing? Yeah. Maybe. Fair enough.

My signature picture was rather annoying. I was going to change it soon anyways. Would you have a problem with a simple still photo?

I just have this feeling of internet paranoia whenever somebody puts me on ignore. It's like a reminder that someone, on the internet, who you have never met, (although in your case we might have been in the same Wal-Mart a couple of times) hates your guts. I'm glad this wasn't the case.

I just turn signatures off... also I never answered, I'm ignoring Greenie because he takes obnoxiously off-topic image posts to a new low.

The fact that everyone ignores everyone else really puts a damper on communication here. The following rant is not directed at anyone, just the idea of the ignore option...

I find it kinda sad when we can't all put differences aside and attempt to understand one another like human beings instead of just having (and taking) the option to stick our heads in the ground and pretend it isn't there.

I mean, to each his own and if it avoids pointless arguments, flamewars, teeth-gnashing, and ragequits, so be it. But it's going to be ugly for everyone involved when the time comes when there isn't an ignore button and you're forced to deal with something that doesn't jive with how you'd like to pretend the world is.

People will say "well I shouldn't have to be forced to listen to something I don't want to!" and I suppose that's true, but at the same time, if you make an effort to communicate and understand things... perhaps the problem wouldn't be as large.

God knows just about each and every one of you has annoyed me with something for some reason at some point, and yet my "ignored" list remains clean. For example, I find the fact that Anchorhead doesn't recognize The Empire Strikes Back in his own personal canon about the dumbest thing I've ever heard since I love ESB, but I'm not about to crucify him on my ignore list because he seems like a pretty sweet bro and his viewpoint, while different on a polar scale and contradictory to mine, is pretty damn interesting.

I find the fact that Ziggy is mature as he is just as interesting, because he reminds me of me when I was his age (only about eight years ago [though that seems like ages ago come to think of it]) and because that it just goes to show you that there's hope for the next generation. When I have a 13 year-old (that's right, isn't it?) I hope he's as adult as Ziggy.

Xhonzi's attempt to raise his child in a sheltered, PT-less world I see as strange, misguided, and ridiculous, but there are also quite a lot of good posts made by the man. Ideas I agree with fairly solidly, and humour I get a chuckle out of. I'm not about to ignore him because of the few disagreements I have.

Even Frink bothers me sometimes with his inability to let Twooffour (who also annoys me at times, but other times I agree with quite easily) off the hook. Same with the Great Adywan who has the same problem with Kenwhatever. Not even close to ignoring any of them.

Just because you may not agree with someone 100% of the time doesn't mean that they won't have a few good points now and then that you can use as common ground to build communication on. Hell, most times, being exposed to and dealing with differing opinions is what makes you grow and your own opinions evolve into stronger, more well-thought-out ones, or change into new ones completely. Personally, that concept excites me.

tl;dr: Let's give peace a chance. Why can't we be friends. Come on, people now, smile on your brother. People all over the world, join hands. If I could buy the world a Coke. Other touchy-feely bullshit.

Anyway, I don't really care who ignores who in the end (I'm sure I'll end up on a few people's lists because of this anyway). I'm just in a philosophical mood tonight. Refer to Frink's avatar.

For the most part, I agree with you, Tryphanax.  However, I feel that for the sake of the peace, I had to ignore someone.  It's for the greater good.  I do wish that Angel would remove that image in his sig, as I love to read his comments, but am always embarrassed at the bottom and try to keep the screen scrolled where I cannot see the pic.

While I respect what you've said, I must disagree.   You make a good point that you can learn and grow from someone with whom you disagree.   But unfortunately, we have a few assholes on here.    Some people, you just can't reason with no matter how hard you try.     Some are troll,  some think they are superior to you and instead of debating you in a respectful manner, insult all the time.  Some are know-it-alls that target you and tell how you are always wrong and lecture you to death, some try to use you to commit crimes against fellow forum members.    There is no reasoning with these people.   Since the powers that be here don't like to ban people, there is only one option left: the ignore button.
