Has anyone done a preservation of the 1997 SE Trilogy? If hasn’t been done, why? I know people hate these versions to death, but I’m just curious. This website exists because…well…the SE exists. So yeah, I know it’s a stupid question.

Nah. Barring Greedo, the 1997 version's not the one to hate, the 2004 one is. And Greedo can be fixed with 5 seconds' manipulation in vdub.

There's no reason to "hate" anything. Every version of the Star Wars movies can peacefully co-exist. It's crazy, but it's true.
