Hello star wars fans. I only have a 1080p TV and no 4k blu ray player. Was wondering which version of phantom menace to pick up? Right now I only have VHS. Is there any particular version that is best for watching the film. Likely the one with the highest picture quality without having too much DNR.

2001 DVD release, and the 2011/2015 BDs. 2015 is just a repackaging of Episodes 1-6 from 20th Century FOX. If you care about bonus features too, both releases. It’s what I have, the 2001 DVD release, and 2015 1-6 plus bonus discs BD set.
Still going to have DNR baked in, unfortunately. 4K99 I have no clue which stage it’s at yet, but that’s entirely different.
Below are the alterations, and comparisons.

35mm scan, tho you would need to get the blu-ray set first.

Wouldn’t having the DVD be totally fine with getting the 35mm scan after? Myself, I have both already, 2001 DVD release and 2011 BD set which is the 2015 re-packaging, but not the scan yet.
